Does anyone have any feedback regarding the JCW package?

I realize that you could probably get better performance for the money, but I value the comprehensive warrenty that you get with this package. Do you think it is worth it?

From the information I have seen, this kit does not include any suspension upgrades (correct?), only supercharger pully/cylinder head/intake/exhaust.

Anyone know of a place to test drive one?
Thanks,
A.O.

I will be ordering a 2006 MCS the end of FEB-06. I am also considering the JCW. I believe the JCW kit includes: intake, upgraded supercharger with pully reduction, reconfigured ECU(computer), new cylinder head, sports exhaust, and big brake kit. I would say go for it!

If you don't get it now and decide to get it later, it will cost you a lot more to have your dealer do it. Also, it is my understanding, that when the dealer does it, they don't include the big brake kit.

You are absolutely correct, you can get aftermarket kits for less $ but what would your mechanic charge for the install? In addition to this you have the warrenty issues.

Yes the JCW kit is worth the $6300 from the factory. you get the engine kit, big brake kit and the LSD for a good price. Yes there are other kits out there that are going to give you higher HP #'s, but you're gonna throw your warranty out the window.
I urge all my new customers to get the JCW kit for a few reasons.
#1 better price and warranty is fully intact.
#2 the 2006 will be the last year you can get this kit on the existing body style. Everything changes on 2007. New motor, new body, new pricing, new options(somewhat). So who knows when they will make a JCW kit for the Citron/peugot(sp?) turbo.
and
#3 i've been installing the JCW engine kit at the dealership for $6800. sooo you get more for you money.

So after the warranty goes out, go ahead with the pully reduction and change out the intercooler and add differnt mods and whatnot.

And AdotOdot4 the JCW kit doesn't include the JCW suspension. But you can get it of course, for a price.

Edit: and just F.Y.I. Most dealerships thould have a JCW MINI set up. this was an program offered via MINIUSA for all customers to test drive one before they buy it. I know i have one here and i get in trouble on all the test drives ;)

IF warranty is your concern, spend the outrageous amount.
If power is your concern, you can spend the same or less for more power.

If you want a cool badge... I can get you one for less than $6800!

It's been a long debate in the MINI world...
You can't go wrong really...

And once you get it, You;ll be voiding out your warranty within a year anyhow.

BMW of Towson (my local dealer) offers their own Performance Package with similar output for ~$4300... pretty sick

I completely agree with this.

a bit off topic but, onasled... we're working out some challenge dates for the east coast. Is this something that you and your local MINI community would be into it the dates were good?

Sorry...

Doug, sound interesting. Come post this over at NAM. I started a new Road Racing section that has sparked some good interest. Quite a few Mini racers out here I guess.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm gonna check if any of the dealerships around me have a JCW Mini. For the moment I'm going to try to avoid the mod bug...:devillook ...but who knows how long that would hold out.

Man.....reading all this i really want an S bad. I was going to buy one in 04 but never made it and bought 3 E30s. Now i really would enjoy an S with a pully and some different things. I had a turbo E30 325is . after watching onasled's video i really want one. I have a friend that is really into track events and he runs solo instructer class with a 02 dinian Stage 2 M3and he was at barber a while back and there was a red s with black stripes and r comps that was really fast. he has a video of it and he really was coming out of the corners hard. considering that the M3 was on toyo street tires it was still impressive.
