So over the weekend, I put a set of winter tires on that I bought and they r 16x7's i believe. I own a 98 m3/4 and as of now, my fronts are contours with all season tires that are almost out of life and the rears have the Cross Spoke Styling 42's??? They came on the 325 I think an e46. The rears seem to fit but the fronts rubbed against my caliper. If I run spacers, would that fix the problem and what mm should I get along with the bolts.

Thanks in advance, Steve

By "rubbing on the calipers", do you mean the inside/center of the rim section rides on the outer edge of the calipers? I am suspecting that because it's precious few 16" rims that will clear M3 calipers. If that's the case, it's unlikely any spacer will help you. By the time you get enough spacer to move you out far enough to clear the caliper, you'll end up rubbing on the fender. Do you know exactly what model 16" rims you bought?

http://bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=447700 These are the exact ones I have tried to put on. The inside of the rim was touching the caliper. All lugnuts were put on by a gun and when I put it in reverse. The car wouldnt move. :dunno Thanks for the help by the way.

sorry to say, but 16" wheels do not clear the M caliper, or any 330 mm rotor w/ caliper for that matter. I think 17's are the minimum for that type of setup.

So your saying no 16''s will fit the m's? I dont think thats true. I have seen m3s on 16s..

Yes, there are a couple of 16" rims that will actually fit... that's what I meant in my post by "precious few". A friend of mine runs 16" rims on his '97 M3 during the winter, but I don't remember what brand they are. I'll try to get ahold of him and post what they are.

Jim might also have a 16" wheel recommendation.

So running spacers wont help the rim give clearance from the caliper?
