Errr... What's with these attachable "Angel Eye" rings? It's not the whole headlight assembly but just an add-on... Anyone know if these are any good? Just asking because the price range is right up my alley, as I am the cheapest bastard on the face of the earth.

Go to www.omnitecmotorsports.com and look through the instructions. At the moment Euro Ellipsoids are required.

That may change shortly...

Hi Jim,

Your comment about not requiring Euro ellipsoids is what prompted me to post a reply.

I recently purchased a set of Gen II DDE's, not knowing that the Euro ellipsoids were required. (I know, I should have done the research, but they looked so good that I just had to impulse buy it when the opportunity came along!) Now I know that the ellipsoids are far superior to the stock US headlamps and I may eventually switch to those anyway. But in the meantime, being the cheap bastard that I am, :), I'd like to attain the AWESOME look of the DDEs with the minimum costs involved. Thus, I would LOVE to know how I can get these babies on the stock US lights. :D

Also, I heard that there was an update to the kit which allows for the kit to be installed without drilling holes. I heard it can be obtained from you. Is this true? If so, I'd be interested!

Thanks in advance!

On the E36 there needs to be some slight milling of the area above the inner lense. A small hole is also drilled into the access door to the high beam. While this all sounds somehow 'ominous' it is remareable easy to do. And it is completely reversible with no visible changes from the outside of the light. Even the hole in the access door can be plugged with a $.12 part from home depot in seconds.

I'll be exerimenting on the US spec lights shortly.

Jim,

don't you have to put the stock lights into an oven to "unseal" them as well?

More than likely. That's what I'll be experimenting with this week.

I'd offer up my stock lights as a guinea pig, except I don't have anything to put in its place, so I guess I will have to patiently wait for the results of your experimentation, Jim...
