 at least you know it attracts pussy :D j/k

gives you an excuse to detail the engine bay over the weekend, and pull the spark plugs, change the cams, etc etc. while your cleaning, add a cat back exhaust :D j/k couldn't resist. g'luck

You gotta be careful. My mother had a cat that liked to get in the engine bay when she was a child. One morning, her dad went out, cranked up the car, and the cat got trapped in the accessory belts. Bubye kitty.

yeah a friend of mine actually drove a while (a couple of miles) with the cat stuck in the engine compartment. cat was all burned and lost an ear or something in the fan belt, but it lived.

i saw a cat "spray" one of my prior cars... i'm not a cat person.

I heard of mice getting in the engine bay , but how he hell does a cat? And if its because you leave your hood open for 1month , why?

Byran,

That same incident happened like 2yrs ago at a dealer I worked at. The customer complained of a belt noise on an E38 740iL. The tech removed the underbody panel and then a large dead cat just dropped to the floor with one of its paws cut off. The cats eyes were wide open as well as its mouth.

It appears the engine was still warm during winter and the cat crawled up underneath the vehicle to be comfortable.

Help me here.... I'm trying (not too hard!) to get a visual of a cat dumping under the closed hood of an M3.

Can you say 'contortionist'? :eek3:

My little step sister got a kitty a few years back, really small, and my dad isn't a cat person so it slept outside. And I guess it liked to sleep on top of the front tire because it was warm. And my dad left for work one morning, reversing out of the driveway, and when he looked forward, he saw the kitty flopping around, and he had to kill it with a broomstick... yuck!! Poor kitty. My dad felt really bad..

And MauiM3... I LOVE that picture, do you have that in higher res? Thanks!

Wow, some of these stories are kinda sick. I don't like cats a whole lot myself, but damn.

Once I brought my car to my friend's shop to get an oil change, The car was parked on the hoist for a while with the hood close. His shop is very big and includes a body shop. When we opened the hood, 2 kittens jumped out. Apparantly, they can climb in there from the bottom and they like it there because it's warm.

My fam used to have an old ford van back in PA. One day dad started it up and heard the oddest noise, kinda like a demonic belt screach. He pops the hood to find a dying baby owl. Cutest thing too. Its a shame...

My ex had a big rat get in the engine bay and chew thru the wiring harness of her car, it wasn't fun.

Guys,

the shit was all dried up. there was like three stripes of shit. My hood was closed and my car was covered. I guess it wanted a warm place to sleep. the reason why i know was that after a month of the car being parked, i just happened to check the oil and i notied the cover for the battery post was loosely opened so i went over and closed and reallized there was shit there and also on that side i see puffs of cat hair!.

the reason why my car was parked over at my parents house was that we were on vacation for almost a month. and that my wife and i carpool to work. so we use the other car. (330I)

pics of my vacation....europe was wonderful

It's odd because I thought cats don't like to sh*t or piss where they sleep.

What?!? You went to Europe for almost a month and you didn't go to Germany? What kind of BMW fan are you anyway??

Rel, I've done some research on this matter. It turns out that there is a breed of feline species that does eat, sh*t and piss where they sleep, which is typically the engine compartments of automobiles Amazing, huh?

This breed is aware and adaptive to it's surroundings, as demonstrated by the manner in which it deposits it's excrement mimicking the logo of their adoptive home. Three stripes (no M for logistical reasons) in this case.

I think this thread is based on :bs: .

There's no B.S. here. Particularly on cold nights, cats love to climb up into engine bays from below in order to stay warm.

No doubt, small animals get under hoods for the warmth, security or whatever.

It just struck me as weird, funny, etc., a cat drawing a /// logo under the hood of an M in the way described.

Since a cat 'marked' the interior of a van I have, my garage is almost always closed and locked.

ok guys.......i'm not BSing........there was shit in there. the reason why we did not go to germany was didn't have enough money. i hope i could get a digicam of the stain it left behind tomorrow
for those don't believe me!

Now there's a documented reason to make sure your underbody panels are there and secured completely!

A cat used to sleep on my convertible top when I had an MGB. The weight of the cat caused the stitching to pull out around parts of the top. Eventually I got an alarm that would scare the thing off so it wouldn't ruin the top for good.

Not a cat person...:complain

Cats taste great when deep fried with duck sauce....

Me no likey cats too much. My sister has a cat that thinks he's a dog, eats potato chips and anything else he can get his fat ass near. Everytime I go over there I have to defuzz myself before getting in the car.

May not have been a cat.

Got any racoons or possums around.? They like to shit 'up' on stuff like that... racoons will literally make an outhouse up in a tree.

We have a fox here that will steal the cat food, then shit in the empty dish... talk about adding insult to injury.

So the cat will know what he missed? Wow, foxes are pretty smart. ;)

My uncle Bill had a Beautiful black '69 Stingray Corvette he restored and sprayed jet black. You could litterally use the hood as a mirror it was such a great paint job. One morning he noticed the neighbor's cat's paw prints across the hood. Needless to say, that cat didn't live to sun down. :devillook

when i used to live at home about 8 years ago, i was in the basement working. i kept hearing this noise coming from the ceiling. it was a hung ceiling so i took one panel off and peeked my head up and guess what i saw, the damn family cat found his way in there. so i grab the little sucker, start dragging him towards me and then i notice a bag in the corner of my eye. turns out my father had hid some jewelry and stuff in the ceiling. my father thaught he lost that in 1986. how bout that.
