I just buoght a 98 328i after selling my 88 ix.
Needing to do my first oil change, I ran accross the Amsoil brand. Do they make a synthetic and do any e36 owners run it in their's? Most threads I've read speak of M1 or Castrol.
Also, I live in NY State and am going to have to drive it through the winter. Oil weight vs. mileage? Since the original owner cheezed on the OBC, I don't have the average mpg readout (which I miss,) but the first half tank renders about 260 miles -to and from work 28mi total per day and two forty mile drives.
Thanks.

Buy the way, after the ix's 2.5 litre, the 2.8 is a wild ride!

I have used Amsoil since going to the turbo and now still use it with the DASC. I gotta say that it has ran better since and I am getting better mileage. It seems that is the oil I am going to keep using.
