Apparantly someone inside leaked this information out, detailing all the future (and future possibilities) of BMW models for the next 6 years of production.

Not sure if this belonged here or in General Discussion... mods, feel free to tow it if you think it's better off there.

Not sure how current this is since it includes all 4 QTR's or '05 and there's no M6 - coupe or cabrio. Further - there's no Z4 coupe M roadster or coupe listed either - and according to automobile anyway - those are a done deal.

Limousine = Sedan in Car talk.

Odd, no z4 coupe either or M series, but 1 series 3dr & coupe sounds hawt.

Wow. Cool.

Although some models are not on the list, it does look like a production schedule - since there is no date on it, it could be from any time before a decision for the M6.

The only thing that makes me unbelieve it, is that a leak like that would result in major lawsuits - if you remember a few years back, there was a from GM who went to VW, and leaked cost-cutting techniques, and GM went after him (his name escapes me now) - a production schedule of that nature, very detailed, is very closely guarded and considered "intellectual property" so I doubt that someone leaked that - besides someone who has access to that type of info, if they want to leak something (to hurt BMW), they have access to much more classified info, so leaking that wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Still, a cool document to look at.

Why would they make a 1er vert without a 1er coupe? They'd sell more coupes for sure, you think? :dunno

Limousine would be the longer version (the Li) of the saloon (the i)?

or more. consider that the e46 had 7 years and the e36 had 8 years, same as the e30.*

*feel free to correct my math as appropriate.

kinda like how they made the Z3 M verts a lot longer than the m coupe. also how the z4 is a vert, yet there is no successor to the M coupe.

Its a typical production schedule if anything. Can't call bull on it cause its nothing more than BMW model life cycles (you could pretty much make the same chart for the past 10 years.)

I wonder what a redesigned mini would look like. weird.

And it doesn' take much to add another line for the M6.

BMW is planning a crossover type vehicle.
Something between a minivan and SAV.
My guess is that it will be built in SC since they are expanding the plant.

This list doesn't have any surprises, other than the models it forgot to include, such as the m roadster. BMW apparently is considering a z8 successor or a supercar as well.

limo is not a sedan
saloon is a sedan

I think this limo vs. saloon vs. sedan thing can be settled easily...

Assuming they are smart enough not to forget the basic four door i model, then only limo can be describing it. Limo = saloon = sedan, just depends on what region of the world you are in and its dialect of english, it seems.

Besides, notice that for Limo, the E46/4 indicates 4 doors, for the coupe, E46/2 matches 2 doors, and for the touring E46/5 points to 5 doors... Deduction shows that limo can not mean anything besides sedan, unless they removed the standard four door i... who needs a 3 series Li anyway?!? :rolleyes

Well, we've been making much ado about nothing, it seems...

A GermanCarZone forum member posted <a href="http://www.germancarzone.com/showthread.php?t=832">this </a>way back on November 5th, and he links to a sample of the <a href="http://www.supplierbusiness.com/uploadedpdfs/bmw_sample.pdf">original document </a>where the chart was found. And for those of you that want the whole document, it's a <a href="http://www.supplierbusiness.com/reports_endpoint.asp?id=27">bargain </a>at €500!

The deal is, it is NOT a BMW internal document, it's a report/article from a 3rd party (SupplierBusiness.com) that has the BMW logo on the report in the sections that cover BMW.

The data in the chart is THIER guess at what BMW will be doing, and while it may be based on some good information, it's not gospel.
