How do I open trunk with dead battery

1996 328i Battery is in the trunk. Trunk lock is electric, need car doors open to open trunk. Other door locks are electric and work from key in driver's door. Battery is dead. How can I open the trunk to get to the battery? Thanks.

even though lock is electric, it can also be unlocked manually with a key.. so go put your key into the trunk and turn counter clockwise.

That doesn't work on mine. It scared the hell out of me the other day because the electric wasn't kicking in for some reason. If I left the lock vertical and unlocked a door it would work. Now it works fine so I haven't messed with it.

Crawling through will do the trick as stated above. Not an option for me though.
