its a 93 325is. when the car is running or not. as long as the key is turned and there is power to the interior, i get a click click comming from somewhere either behind the gauge cluster, in the engine bay near the brake booster or somewher near the peddles. the click click has a certain frequency and pattern to it and is not random. it always clicks twice every 5 seconds or so. what around that area can cause this? electrical shortage? relay clicking?

That is your heater valve located right below the brake fluid resevior area.

If you can find it, put your finger on the two cylinders you can actually feel the clicking.

is your heating functioning properly?

I know this is old, but did you ever get this fixed? Does the clicking mean its going bad??

The heater valve is more likely to sounds like a whirring, so I don't think the diagnosis is correct.

If it is a really loud clicking sound, it may be your stereo? I had a similar loud clicking sound just before my alternator died

Good timing for this thread. I heard my car doing the same thing today. 2 clicks, about every 5 seconds. I'm watching this thread!
