What cars are similar in performance to the E36 M3? For example if an E36 M3 was to race, what cars would it compete against? I would like to see what an E36 M3 could beat.

On a track with lots of corners... FD3S is the only car I can think of in the same price range.

worst...question...ever.

And you guys are all wrong. The answer is a 1987 Dodge Caravan with faux-wood paneling:

I think it would be close to a 996 in a straight line, a little slower in the corners. But all and all, it would be a great deal for 1/2 the price.

If you want the standard answer, it competes against the S4 and the C32 AMG.

Didn't those plymouth vans have those 4AG engines in em? If I'm not mistaken, they had the heart of the DSM glorydays under their wood-paneled hood. I'd love to make one kill an E36 M3. :)

Good luck! I would love to see that oil burning smoking tailpipe take on an M3.:)

You could take Auto G35s stock. With my mods I can do a number on my friends 6spd G35 Coupe.

That would be the e46 m3.

As for true competition, a great little car is that pesky toyota mr2 turbo w/ the 3sgta (or sgte). My friend just got a JDM RHD one of those babies, and it looks promising.

There is no competition for an M3 !
Some cars may be faster...........some may handle better.........some can stop better...........but nothing can compete with an M3. The M3 is the essence of driving..."and that's all I have to say about that" .

IDK about the 4AG but some of the 80's models had a turbo 2.4 in them. They run 12's at the track.

you could drop $1000 into it's suspension, and swapp an m3 engine for about $6k, and buy the car for about $6000, and smoke one in every category... guess what car that is :)

You talk about how sad you life is and that your meet is posted on a trash barrel with a hand written notice displaying FESTIVA FESTIVAL.

I think that sums it up pretty well.
