I was reading this month's Roundel about the Dinan 5ers and I ran across this qoute from Steve Dinan:
"A guy will spend $3,000 on intake and exhaust and chip modifications to get a modest horsepower increase, when he could get an effective ten to thirty percent torque increase just by changing the differential."
Why would he say this?:dunno Isn't he cutting his own throat on his products?
But while we are on this topic, what would be a good diff ratio to change to for a 95 325is?
Oh yeah, there is an intersting article about Baby and Simeon also. Eat the Jerky next time Simeon! :)

Yes, but you have to realize that it's still a compromise. By swapping out the rear end, you make the car faster, but you decrease the top speed in each gear, not to mention the gas mileage drops quite a bit. So, with a faster diff, the car will get to the end of each gear faster, but you have to make more gear changes, which may or may not make the car slower overall. ASk Willy (stylin) how he likes his (but with the supercharger it may have different results).

Speaing of interesting Roundel articles, did anyone read the one about the twin 2002 that that guy had refurbished for him (back in the July edition)? One was done up stock, and the other was race prepped. Anyway, did anyone notice that the guy was Head of Finance for WorldCom? Ooops! Maybe he won't be able to keep those 2002s after all... :)

you know , changing the Dif, is a two way street. for example, My 323 CI I can make it to RED line in second gear at aroun d 61mph. (so that makes a Good 0-60) Now if you change that Dif, you are in 3rd by 60mph. so does the gear shift slow you down ? Well it can, unless you power shift the hell out of it.
so the question is, will the dif make me faster, well yea, but not always on paper, .. BUT one more thing, chip my car so I can get about 7000rpm out of it till the limiter hits, and I might be able to make 0-60 again in second gear, so the car is now faster again in the 0-60.
so what does this all mean, and why the hell am i babeling.
well it all comes down to you cant JUST do ONE mod to get speed, you need a few mod's in sequance otherwise you just will never get what you are looking for. the catch to this, is sometimes making all these mod's one by one. could be $$$$, and jst thowing in a Supercharger might cost less (not really)
well.. I have not changed my diff yet.. i am in a slow progress. (chip ordered!)
good luck
