Hey, im considering buying some eyelids for my black E36 325i Convertible. What do you guys think about these things? I have DDEs with ellipsoids and want a more aggressive look. Do they actually look nice or do you think they are cheap looking? Also, where is the best place to get them at? Can I get them pre-painted or maybe in carbon fiber trim? Since I have a black car, I think carbon fiber would look kickass...anybody make them? Thanks

Since you asked..... They don't make your car go any faster, or handle better. I would personally reconsider. I also have a black E36, and would like ellipsoids. They help you go faster in the dark. It just seems like useless car jewelry to me. I don't have curb feelers for the same reason I don't have eyebrows.
Just my opinion. To each his own....my vote is rice

In a way, it does make you go faster... cars in front of you see the "stare down" in thier rearview/side mirror and get out of your way
... ok, maybe that was a stretch.:D

If the pieces are well executed, they will look very nice, Willy's car has a very well put together set and if he is nice enough to post some dial-up friendly shots, you can see that they do add to the attitude of the front end.
PS, steve, did you ever get the Private Message I sent you?

Hey DasMafia,
Just now checked my PM messages....sorry I dont do it very often. I'm only 17.... nobody ever seems to believe that. I attent Lincoln East High School and will be a Senor this year. I own and operate a small business that I call Wufimportparts. We specialize in rare VW and Porsche parts. (I've always been obsessed with German-made cars) I sell mainly on Ebay and some independently. Wufimportparts works through Scotts Automotive on Vine Street. Wufimportparts has made me enough money so far to afford my 1995 BMW 325i Convertible that I bought at a great price from my uncle. I also recently sold my restored 1969 Karmann Ghia convertible which is helping to pay for all of its mods. I would really be interested in getting to know some other BMW fanatics around town but I'm pretty new to the scene. Anyway, we should keep in touch. Later :)

I like my eyelids. Even though some people think they're rice.
I think they look good with DDE's. They're a bit difficult to install because the headlight unit needs to line up nicely with the corner markers. I have to get some washers or rubber spacers of some sort because my headlights are sunken back a little and the eyelids don't line up properly... or you could just get the ones that don't wrap around like Flip.

I bought them when they first came out for e36's (actually had to get them shipped from Eur.) never put them on tho. Just not a big fan.

I like them mainly on sedans or cars with shorter hoods (318Ti).....When painted the same color, it gives the illusion of a longer, steeper, more aggressive hood line. As we know coupes have a longer, steeper hood and windsheild line than the sedans(or I could be speaking outta my butt). The eyelids give a sleeker more aggressive appeal to the sedan....I would avoid carbon fibre...I would only use carbon fibre to lighten something up (i.e. Carbon fibre hood and trunk deck). Since you are putting them onto your car, you are negating the form/use of carbon fibre....But beauty is in the eye of the beholder...Look it me being all philisophical and all.......

318Ti's have the same size hood as every other E36 BMW. There are only two versions of E36 hoods - louvered (coupe) and non-lovered (sedan). Even these are interchangeable.

Are you sure they are interchangeable? I parked my car up next to my friend's coupe and his looked longer than mine...granted we didn't get technical about it and whipped out the measuring tape......Hmmm I'll have to go check it out again....

Check it again, but I'm pretty sure on that....
