Looking to buy a '95 525i auto. pretty much loaded with 80k miles on the clock. It has a clean Carfax, drove very nice too, dealer is asking $14.9. I'm probably going to get it inspected by a shop too, but the only thing I can see wrong with it is that ALL of the wheels have curb rash and two are dented slightly. It didn't seem to affect the way the car drove or the alignment in any way though. I'm conisdering this car for a daliy driver and understand that for this era, the 2.5L tend to be amonst the most reliable and the lesser of all the evils when it comes to maint./repairs, etc.

Any thoughts or comments on this "deal" would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

looks like a nice car, be sure to have a certified independent look at it and try to figure out if the curb rash was caused by an incident that also messed up the suspension. also, while it is likely the cheapest to keep running indefinitely, the big-six 3.5L is actually the longest lasting engine, but the $$ spent on maintenance (parts are more expensive) is usually more than enough to make the 2.5 the more attractive choice.

personally, I think that they are asking a little high, but that is just me and I'm currently shopping for E36 4-bangers that are litterally half of that price.

In my opinion, no, that's not a good deal. I remember seeing a 1994 525i last year for a friend. It had similar miles as the one you found, and was in very good shape. It needed a few minor things here and there (like shocks/struts), but overall was a really good car. The price was around $8K from a used car dealer. I'd lowball the seller on the one you found, or just keep searching.
