looking to buy a set of very good condition rims for street purposes, but i'd still like them to be on the 'light' side. my preferred size would be 17"x8.5", but i may consider 17"x9", 17"x8" or 18"x8.5". i'm looking for SSR comps, forgelines, BBS RCs, BBS RKs, IFGs, stock 10 spokes, stock LTW and maybe others. I wouldn't turn my back to a set of fikses or kinesis. Would prefer as little curb rash as possible. i'd like rims with no tires, as i'd like to try Kumhos new MX tire in 245/40, but i will consider rims with tires. if you have anything, let me know. thanks.

I just gave up on finding a pair of used 8.5" LTW wheels, so I went to the dealer. Surprisingly, they were willing to deal, so I got them for $475/ea. Pacific BMW was $460/each, but that was mail order only and they wanted $50 per rim for shipping.

I only live 30 miles away, so that seemed a bit steep.

Yeah, I gave them the p/n from ETK, and my local dealer said they were indeed stamped and were special order. I had them pull up the p/n on their computer just to be sure, and the pic that came up was the stamped wheel. I'll let you know on Monday when they come in.

I sure hope they are stamped. I can't imagine that the polished ones would be a special order item, so I feel somewhat confident that I'll get the right ones.

Sorry guys,

Im a bit confused here.

475$ USD pr rim without tyre is a good price ???

I havent spent any time on the subject as im guess that Im misunderstanding the point here.

However, at the first place I looked, a found these BMW alu rims 7,5*17" (i know that its the 8,5 which is wanted) at 475 $USD a set.

Havent checked shipment rates - its late night here everything is closed.

the rims we're referring to are also forged and rather difficult to find used. at $460/each, you're awfully close to the used price per rim. they usually sell for $1300-1600/set, depending on condition. they are on the lighter side (19-20 lb.) and strong also. as EVO mentioned, only available here in '95 on the LTW and optional on the M3. luckily, both my cars (obviously the LTW) came with them originally.

You lucky bastard:).

My LTW didnt' even come with them (other than the spare). I could've killed the guy for getting rid of them before I bought the car...

If those were the forged ones I'd be on them in a second. I've already got a set of those as my track wheels, though.

Here's the one's that are so hard to find:

Guys,

I know Chuck Stickley has 2 sets of black Fikse FM5's for sale. I believe that one set is 17x8.5" and the other is 17x9". He told me that the 17x9" set has been used only twice and is practically brand new while the 17x8.5" set has seen regular track duty, but is still in relatively good condition.

I tried to buy the 17x8.5" set awhile ago, but I think Chuck got tired of my questions and stopped responding to my e-mail requests so I gave up on the wheels.

You can see pictures of one of the sets (which one?) at his website under specials.

Chris

it's nice when a non-LTW comes with them. :D

i think i might have killed the guy for selling the original wheels from a LTW. what was he thinking? did he sell the splitter and rear wing, too?

thanks mmaigret. it's funny, i was dealing with chuck months ago on the first set of black ones (8.5s) and we could never get together on them either. basically, i kept telling him i wanted them for the asking price, but i could never get a commitment. i finally picked up my forgelines and got an email from chuck just days after saying i could have them now, if i wanted them. thanks for the heads up, though.

Forgot to update you guys.

I picked up my new rims from the dealer the other day (two 17x8.5" forged/stamped LTW wheels). They were indeed the correct wheels.

I'm guessing that they don't sell too many of these new, as they were manufactured in September 2000..
