I dry fit the tranny tonight.
The tranny mounting tabs (yes I know one of them is broken it came like that, I have to get it fixed) fall right in between the forward E30 mounting slots and the rear slots.

Here is the supposed 325 mount that will work, as you can see it will not. I am going to try the M Coupe one next.

Shifter lines up perfect.

Less than 1" clearance from the crank pully to the radiator. Too close?

Here is the tranny brace part number. It looks nothing like the picture in the ETK. The one in the ETK looks like it would work though.

Next up is to either try the M coupe drive shaft or get mine shortened and balanced. Then to build an exhaust, fuel system, Motec, cooling hoses, heater core hoses, coolant overflow, oil cooler..........etc

I don't think you'll have any clearance issues w/ the radiator. Everything else seems to be lining up great. If you ever have to drop the trans again, though, you may want to add "remove radiator" to the steps before tilting the engine down.

Which engine mounts, engine mount arms, are you using? The engine seems a bit too far forward, it will make it a bitch to do drive belts, thermostats, waterpumps, etc without removing the radiator.

S54 arms, E28 535i rubber mounts. This is as far back as it gets. Any further and it won't work. Removing the radiator at that point will be a breeze compared to what is going into this...........:violinist

I missed the first 2 days. How did you obtain the S54? This is probably the first of it's kind, huh? I don't have the experience for you to take my opinion, but amazing work. It's gonna be nuts.

looks great so far. kept my eye on the other threads. are you going to make a new thread each time you update or is there one specific tread that you will be connecting all your work to since its the kind of project that a lot of people will be interested in, its probably good to keep it organized. (damn run on sentences)

What are you planning on doing to offset the noseheavy weight bias?
Aside from that, this is the greateset project ever. Seriously.

uh, a bit optimistic maybe?
those m5s are eating 996tt's mang
I know that an E30 with a euro S52 will run 12s with a stock engine, provided it can get the power to the ground, so I guess we'll see.

It shouldn't be a problem at all for a good welder.
I had a type R integra engine with the main engine mount torn off in wreck and it was as good as new after recrating the missing area with a tig.
