In the next week or so I'm going to drive up to Phoenix which is about a 7 hour drive from where I'm located. I really want to protect my front end and mirrors from all the road debris and bugs so I was planing on buying the Bav Auto Colgan bra for the front end and the colgan mirror bras.

A lot of people say that bras hurt the paint and finish of a car, but how true is this? Doesn't the colgan bra have some sort of material that doesn't hurt the paint?

Please, only reply if you've had experience with Colgan.

I got one. I used one for a trip from Oregon to Texas. Since I was in a rush, I got the one that already had the cut out for a front plate + roundel. I don't have a front plate, so I just stuffed a plastic bag where the plate was supposed to go.

It worked fine for me, no scratches, no rock chips, no bug kill. It also didn't rain on my drive, so it didn't get wet. If it gets wet, I wouldn't leave it on for longer than like 24 hours or so. I don't know why, but that just comes to mind.

The only bad thing was that I could not get the hood part to fit my car. Maybe I wasn't trying hard enough, but I didn't want to push my luck.

Where did you order yours from? I'm thinking I'm going to order mine from Bav Auto. how long did it take to receive yours?

Bav Auto. I don't remember, about less than a business week, IIRC.

Well, I went ahead and bought it. Total came out to 144.85 shipped for the colgan front bra with no badge opening and no license plate opening, and a set of mirror bras.

I hope these are good quality and they won't ruin my paint.

I bought my Mom a Colgan for her ZHP. It's very high quality. It does take a bit of coaxing to fit the first time, but after it gets broken in it's easy to put on and take off. Fits very well.

It shouldn't hurt the paint as long as you only leave it on for the trip. I think it's money well spent.
