Anyone ever seen this? I found it when googling for a pic of the 1 seater 745h. It's an unbangled 745h, i think it's an e38 if im not mistaken. Also if I'm not mistaken, the first 745 was released in 2002, there was never a 745 before that. Is this real?

Yeah, that's the hydrogen "production" car that uses a special dual fuel engine. I'm sure you know about it. It has two fuel tanks, one for hydrogen and one for petrol. It can burn them interchangebly.

Ive seen an article on that car before. They did not make a 745i before 2002, however the engine in the 740 is still a 4.4 liter I believe.

I'm pretty sure the hydrogen E38 was called 740h.

I have seen two E38 hydrogen powered cars in my town (I'm always seeing Bimmers drive around here before public release, the Port they come in is about 40 mins from me). The cars were labelled as 750iLs when I saw them, and there were two of them. I remember they were covered with all sorts of graphics, one of them said "Powered by nothing but water and sunlight." This was about two years ago maybe, don't quite remember. I think I have cam phone pics of them sitting somewhere, I'll see if I can dig them up.

There was a hydrogen-powered E38 on display at the BMW Zentrum in Spartanburg when we took the factory tour earlier this year. I have a picture of it somewhere...

I honestly never knew there was an e38 hydrogen, I thought the first hydrogen bimmer was that weird 1 seater 745. So BMW did it way before GM huh?

BMW does everything before GM... In fact, both Mercedes-Benz and BMW make all of their technology/developments open-source so that other manufacturers in the industry can make their cars more efficient and safer.

I'd love to see those pics...
That "Powered by nothing but water and sunlight." was kinda funny.

I dont think they really care what they label it? They might just label them due to the newer engine sizes.

Didn't know that BMW had done it at least 5 years ago. Good stuff. I love when people say that Bimmers and Benzes arent anything special. No they just have the best and newest technology before EVERYONE else.
I don't know if you guy's have seen this page :
e38 : http://www.bmwworld.com/models/750hl.htm
e65 : http://www.bmwworld.com/models/745h.htm
I was persuaded that the e38 was a v8 740h not a 750hL but looks like I'm wrong !
