My 1988 325is does not start, i checked the fuel pump and it do hear clicking, i checked for spark and i got none, after that i checked for voltage to the coil, and its not getting any. What are the possible causes for this, I already ordered a new ignition switch which is on its way, but i dont think that will fix it ....

possibly a crankshaft refrence sensor. there should be one residing on the flywheel and one in your #1 sparkplug wire I believe.
I know if those sensors go out you aint getting squat.

can you tell me what they look like and also how hard it would be to chage those ....
if you could tell me part numbers or the full name of the part that would be great ....

This is a pulse generator.

i saw that piece to the right side of the fly wheel it is on there with allen wrench bolts, but wouldnt the flywheel have to be spinning for that to actually work and send the signal that it is spining, the car doesnt start
maybe i am misunderstanding you somehow, does there happen to be anything like a relay, capacitor or anything else between the battery and the coil ?

Well, there is a relay. The DME has to tell the coil to turn on.
The DME also has to know where the crankshaft is to fire the injectors, so if it doesnt know where the crank is it has no reason to even try to start the engine. The flywheel would be turning when the starter is engaged, that is where the DME would first get its signal; no signal, no fire.
But of course it could be that I am all wrong and it is something completely different but if these sensors arent working I know it can cause a no start.

so what should i do first ??
could me not getting any spark be associated with the starter not starting the crankshaft, im totally lost now ... i thought that the coil had to be gettin 12volts regardless of the starter cracnkshaft and ecu, i begining to hate all this with my bimmer ...
what to do next ... what can i check

you said when you try to crank her you get a clicking? if so, and you've done all the other stuff discussed in the previouos responces, check 2 things...the starter and the alternater.
