Hey all,

Im thinking about buying in on the M mirror GB.
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=421860

I noticed that these are heated mirrors, but my sport package did not include this option. Im assuming most of the wiring etc etc is already in place for this, but is there a DIY out there that can take me through it? Has anyone here ever done it?

Thanks

all 328s have heated mirrors from the factory. they are known to burn out over time ... so you wont notice it anymore. if you get m3 mirrors w/ new glass you will get that feature back.

I thought the heated mirrors were part of the winter package? why would bavauto offer non-heated replacements?

Anyone?

Im not looking for a DIY on how to swap heated mirrors into a non-heated casing (that what most of these DIYs discuss)

Im looking for.
1-> a way to confirm that I have the neccasary components to take advantage of the heated mirros
2->how to activate the feature

thanks

you can turn any mirror into a heated mirror
you just need the heated mirror glass and some wire

there's 4 wires to a mirror
you just tap the blue and black (i believe) off of the motor and attach it to the mirror lense

it gets power from there and becomes heated
thats how oem bmw heated mirrors work

How is it controlled? Is just on all the time or does the system utilize the onboard temp guage etc etc to determine when its needed?
