is my driver's side airbag no longer working?

hey guys,

i installed an aftermarket seat on my driver's side. i decided to just leave the sensors hanging so the SRS light is on now (as expected). does this mean that my driver's side airbag no longer works?

this is a 96 OBD2 coupe.

I think both sides will fire in the event of an accident.

i would think the driver's side still works, because how the car be operating and moving with no one in the driver's side?

id guess the light is being tripped because i no longer have a seat belt pretensioner mechanism installed and hooked up. but i could be wrong.

i do still drive the car on teh street occasionally, and i would really really prefer the airbags to work...

if the light is on airbags doesnt work at all. they wont fire in the accident
