I wanna run this by you ///M3 guys....
I am looking at a 97 Silver/Dove Coupe Manual.
Pretty good condition from the information the seller told me.
1. He says it has heated seats, but they are not power? Did they really make these.....seems pointless...
2. Also, There is not an armrest in there. I did some searching, but did not find a good place to buy a folding armrest, not the sliding one from bavauto. Anybody know a site that sells these?
There is no alarm, but I guess I can add that later. Wonder if it has comfort locking. Its so hard to ry and buy a car online, without lookin at it or driving it. I'v ebeen lookin for about 3 months now and I still havent found what I am looking for.
It has 92K miles on it, TSC, HK sound, 4 winter tires w/mille rims (I live in ski country), bentley manual, BMWCCA owned, synthetic fluids....sounds good, looks good, but its just missing those extras...
I suppose they are minimal, but.........I'm picky :D
Thanks for the help guys....hopefully I will be in your forum soon!
**EDIT** Woo Hoo 100th post!! I can get an AVATAR, haha

yes they make heated seats in manual, and the only pro that i know of is that they are alittle lighter and maybe go down farther since no motor under neath you. don't know.. and are you talking about the folding arm rest in the console. i've never seen an m3 or e36 with out one... good luch. but for the alarms. most bmw are prewired for everything. easier for them to pay 60 bucks in wire when they make the cars, than to wait and see what everyone wants on each car... ask him to look in the trunk and read off the labels bc they are normally listed in the trunk. good luck finding an M. you wont reget the feel of the car.

yeah, they do make them withoutthe folding armrest. When I was doing a search for one, there are a few people who were lookin for one as well that didnt have one. I do find it strange though. That is one thing I will have to get right away. I cant stand driving around with me right arm in my lap :mad
I had to do that on my old Nissan.
I figured the heated/manual seats were for weight reduction, more sport feel and what not, but you make a good point on lower the seat farther. I'm 5'9 so that wont affect me.
What other options or things are there to look for?
Its post 96 so I assume the water pump has been fixed, do you think this is true?
Thanks for the help.

Another question, I was just looking up options on this car, and....
The option says 8-way power seats with center armrest
Does this mean only M3's with power seats have the center armrest?
Thanks in advance.

If you get an armrest it'd most likely be a used one, I've seen a few go on here on the boards in the for sale forum. They usually go for around 200 iirc.

what color arm rest are you supposed to get for Dove grey interior?

would this be all you need to retrofit? in this pic below?

Click on the link in my sig to see color of armrest with dove interior.
Options did not change in 98, except I believe side air bags went from option to standard.
Most option lists for the E36 M3 car are way wrong or incomplete -- this is the best one I've found, off a personal GeoCities site:

I would definately be interested in this if I get the car! I couldnt find one anywhere. The guy selling this car, is selling it because it was his dad's and he passed away in december. his mom has been driving it since, but she bought a Mazda6 wagon instead. They were both BMWCCA members and the guy sounds legit. Plus there are lots of extras. He says 15K, but a motivated seller. I think I will throw 14K at him and see what he thinks. Or do you think that is a dick move? I will post the link in the bottom.

No, just a loaded Ms, non lux (booo... for wood trim)

Bastard...haha,j/k. I'll have to be a lil more creative I guess. Can you just change you name without losing everything, or do you have to create a new one?
Thanks guys for all of the info. The tentative plan is to fly out to MN next Friday and test drive it at the airport. Hopefully everythign will be Ok and I can drive back 17 hours to Rochester, NY. As of now, its a $175 plane ticket. I'm getting excited!!:D

The car is mine! I just made an offer for $14,500, and he took it. It may be a little higher than average, but not too much. Its a good car. Owned by an elder, never raced, highway miles. Plus it comes with 16" rims and Blizzak snows, a Bentley manual, an extra set of floor mats, new brembo front rotors, and a pristine exterior and interior! It looks really good. I'm super excited. Hopefully, I'll fly out next Friday and driver the 1000 mile trip home. its either ship it for $900 or buy a plane ticket for $200 and spend $100 in gas. I think I made the right descision.:D
