how can I find this out? I need to know if I had sport or normal suspension... imma replace the shocks in my car with some stock ones, and dont wanna get the wrong ones... are they interchangable? (without having to change the spring) if so i'll opt for sport, if not how can I find out?

Look at the shock/strut bodies i guess...that will at least tell you brand if not part number. If it tell you the pat number search for it...

Look for the vehicle's build sheet under the rear bench seat. If there's nothing on the build sheet describing the suspension, look at the front anti-roll bar. The sport package front anti-roll bar measures 25.5mm in diameter, and the standard bar is 24mm.

(This assumes that your suspension is completely stock and unmodified.)

Yes, I'm referring to the back seat. Pull up on the front edge at each corner. It's only held in place with two metal tangs.

The build sheet is probably stapled to the underside of the seat.

I was curious as to what options my ti came with (other than the fogs and the California top) so I looked for the build sheet and found a sheet stapled under the rear seat. Whoo-hoo!

Wait...not so fast there...

My option? Passenger side air bag. :confused

What about the fog lamps and California top? Surely those were build options. Are those options imbedded in a build code somewhere on the sheet? Can anyone help decipher the codes on the sheet?

"Beifahrer" means "co-driver" or "passenger," so yes, "airbag fuer beifahrer" means "airbag for passenger."

Ooops. I had a German coworker translate that for me. Let me edit that post so my question is clearer.

Oh, okay.

My 328i's build sheet listed the passenger airbag, sport seats, and black Montana leather upholstery. The car was equipped with the automatic transmission and sport package options, but the build sheet didn't show them. One would think the build sheet would list everything, but maybe it doesn't. :dunno

I would think automatic would show up on a build sheet. Ditto for the sports package. Thanks for the input man.

The quest continues...

Call the BMW dealer with your VIN number. they should be able to tell you every option that came with the car.
