It is almost time for me to swap my transmission. I have a 98 m3/4 auto right now and have been saving up for quite some time for a euro six-speed tranny. Anyone on the market know where to acquire one of these? Would be great if all parts were included for a swap.. I have spoken to someone but I dont know how much this item usually goes for. Anybody care to tell me :help
I need the six-speed! PM me or email me at s1ickazn@hotmail.com if you have information or simply leave a message on this thread. Any help will do and I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Try emailing xyobgyn@aol.com. Alex has a couple of them for sale.

I have already contacted xyobgyn@aol.com. His price however is a little too much for me. Looking for an even better deal as budget is sorta tight for me. Thanks for all your help so far guys. :)

Good luck in your search, they are rare and hard to come by, hence the premium that people can charge and sell them for.
Save up those pennies and give Alex a call.
There are extensive articles around the web that detail the e36 US-spec 5-speed, and Euro 6-spd.
Judging from your interest you probably know this but the main difference is the sixth gear. That is, gears 1-5 are the same and 6 is just an overdrive that the US-spec M3s don't have. (It was a cost saving thing)
That being said, don't expect a close ratio gearbox out of the swap.
I see two good options for you.
1. Save some money and get a used tranny that is in good shape from any 5speed e36. There are reports noting the differences between different e36 trannies. If I recall correctly getting a 5-spd from a non-M is a viable option.
2. Probably more what you are looking for: Get a 6-spd from an e46 M3. It is BOLT ON and uses the same tranny mounts and everything. It can even be an SMG tranny because those are really just regular 6-spds with some electronics piggy backed on top. Lose the SMG device and wallah, you have a plain old 6-spd. I would look into this. I'm sure there are a bunch out there, and certainly it would be easier to find than a Euro M3 6-spd tranny not outside the US.
Good Luck.

I've been shopping around. I'm not sure that you can find a better deal. Alex has a couple 6 speeds ready to ship. He barely makes any profit as it is. hope you find what you need.

I think I read a thread on this also by someone from UUC. Maybe I should give him a call and find out all the information. It would be less on my pocket if I do get a transmission from a e46 tho..
I found some good stuff for you.
An excellent writeup of tranny/diff info from UUC's website (http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/98M3/upgrades/E46M3_6SPD/index.htm)
Rob Levinson of UUC's thread on e46 6-spd into a e36 (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=408030)

Try caling Bimmerworl they had a few of them last time I talked to James Clay..
The e46 six speed swap isn't a direct bolt up. A different cluth and flywheel is neccessary. But definilty a good option nonetheless. I have just outsourced my own e46 m3 six spd for my swap. I scored the tranny cheap and can get my hands on a few others. I can't reply to PM's on this board for some reason so email me if anyone is interested in an e46 six speed. Mpwr325i@hotmail.com
