HouZes of the Holy Tour- Art, Architecture and Cars

October 13, Sunday of Columbus Day Weekend
Highlights:

The three Bs:

Beth Sholom Synagogue- The only Frank Lloyd Wright Synagogue. We have
special reservations to tour the interior.

<IMG SRC="http://www.glencairn.org/images/greathallmain4.jpg">

Bryn Athyn Cathedral/ Glen Cairn Museum- Stained Glass phenomenon and more.
In 14th century Gothic style, but with curving walls that seem to open as
they rise 56 feet. There is a chancel, which is shrouded in a purple haze
created by daylight coming through red and blue stained-glass windows. The
Great Hall houses many objects from the Pitcairn collection, some of which
are actually built into the structure. The Bird Room is divided into recessed
panels with a variety of birds in glass mosaic. A Medieval Gallery showcases
many exceptional examples of Gothic stained glass and Romanesque sculpture.

Barnes Foundation: A previously private collection including canvases by
Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, van Gogh, Seurat, Picasso, Monet, Toulouse-Lautrec,
Rousseau, Modigliani, Manet, Soutine, Prendergast, Glackens, Demuth, Courbet,
Rubens, Tintoretto, El Greco and Bosch, plus sculpture, metalwork, masks,
ceramics, textiles, furniture and oddments from all over the world on a 13
acre botanical wonderland. We have special (limited) reservations.

Most likely we will be on gorgeous roads all day unless we run short on time.

Details:

I have been dreaming of running this ride for a couple years. 9/11 wiped out
Windows on the World before I had a chance to see it, or even ride to the top
of the World Trade Center for the view. Actually, I had the chance but
didn’t take it. Now I am energized to see what beauty there is to see before
the opportunity is gone. So I am doing my dream ride. I haven’t been to
many of these places before myself. I hope you will join me in seeing some
of Pennsylvania’s finest- and sometimes hidden- treasures.

You will see wondrous things that are normally restricted or unknown to the
masses, your camera card will be full, you will learn so much in one day that
your head will be ready to burst open. The fall leaves will be fire orange
and red. This ride is Z3 Only unless by some chance Z3s leave a spot open by
the deadline. I wouldn’t turn anyone away from this trip based on their car
IF there is a space left after 9/11. Non-Z3s must travel in the back of the
group on the road and park where directed for Photo Ops.

RSVP WITH PAYMENT BY SEPTEMBER 11 (Easy Day to remember)
TO RSVP EMAIL ME:holy@z3ers.com
COST IS $25 per driver (includes parking) $15 per passenger
I am still working out meals. BYO will always be option.
Everyone has the same itinerary, no changes.
MEET in Center City Philly 7am, END exit 28 of the PA Turnpike 4pm

RAIN OR SHINE- this itinerary can not be repeated or reorganized for another
date- this is IT.
30 People, 20 Cars maximum, RESERVATIONS and PAYMENT in ADVANCE as well as
strict adherence to the RULES required. I need everyone’s cooperation and
proper decorum if we are going to pull this off, to see everything in one day
and to get our photo ops.

This is a PRIVATE PARTY not a club event. I make the rules, you are
responsible for your own insurance.

This is NOT a "spirited" drive, (at least not most of it). We are in
residential neighborhoods and must abide by a lot of rules imposed by the
various institutions. We are on a schedule that will work only if everyone
heeds instructions. I will not wait for anyone.

Wear your favorite FDNY 9/11 Memorial T Shirt! See Ladder20.com to get yours!
