Should've filled up 2-3 days prior. That's what I did in advance.

I filled up the E46, RX300, 560SEC, Pathfinder, & my "new" car yesterday (Will be disclosed soon).
Total cost = $180.00
There was no gas around the lower AL/MS area for about 2-3 weeks after Katrina. It really sucked, but I finally found a few places that had gas. I had to put some 87 in my M3 once or twice, but ya do what ya gotta do.
I don't think it'll be that bad around the DFW area, maybe some shortages, but it should pick up after a few days to a week.

I feel your pain. We filled up all the cars and the boat and need gas in the Viper again after 2 days. "Luckily" for us we have to have 93 in all the cars but my FX. Sigh.

I thought about topping off the SE-R in addition to the M3. Then I thought to myself, if I had to leave DFW in an emergency, then I wouldn't want a looter to steal my SE-R and have a full tank of gas while I'm gone. :D

Yah the east texas area is really low on gas they are out of everything. I'd say when I left 40% of the stations where closed. Very long lines at the others. Lots of cars on the side of the road with people walking.
some 1980's motorcycle might be a good buy for MPG right now.
