Does anyone know the official word on www.bmwe30.net? Is it done for good? Is it coming back? Anybody? Anybody?

it is gone, Gus ran out of money and the host pulled the plug. a few members have erected a replacement at www.e30forum.net.

Gus has posted on that site saying he has all the content backed up so he may give it to Toby and Jaffar to put on their servers.

You weren't.

Most 'hardcore' BEN members know BEN's backup web-site, which is http://www.voy.com/2297/ and from there it was discussed to have a replacement forum.

Hmm. I'm inclined to think you are implying I'm not "hardcore" enough for the "BEN Forum".

I took it to mean the hardcore BEN readers, people who avidly visited the BEN Board every day, even several times per day, if not all day.

You might be hardcore enough for BEN, but BEN's been gone for two months and you still haven't figured out where everybody went. The hardcore BEN Members were on the new board from the beginning :-)

Where ya been ?? :D

I think every E30 enthusiast is more than welcome on the new site.

IMHO it's not necessarily the 'hardcore' members who knew about the backup site... as much as it was the 'early' members.

They were the ones had to use the backup site when the original E30 site was bouncing up-n-down as Gus was building it.

If you were recent (and dedicated) follower of E30 you probably wouldn't have known about the backup site... because when Gus's site went down, it went down with a bang... not a whimper.

I stumbled onto a message about the old backup site on dtmpower.. that's the only way I found out about it... and the only way I knew about the new site when it came up.

When they were limping along on the backup site they were discouraging others from publishing it's existence as the limited (free) resources provided by the backup host were choking.

Now... they have some serious capacity behind the new site and I think the message is ... c'mon back home.

Nope.. I guess Ryan was right.

I mean that if you were on the BEN (as Randy said) every day,etc... you would know that there was a back up forum.

I wasn't implying anything. Trust me. :)

I think every E30 enthusiast is more than welcome on the new site.

I 100% agree with that. I even helped out with the web-design on the E30forum.net....... Gus and BMWE30.net has been my 'home' and it will be missed. But as Queen said; The Show Must Go On.... (I think the Moody Blues said that as well) :buttrock
