Ok if anyone can help me i will appreciate it.
Wheels:18x9.5 et 40
Tires: 255/35/18
Suspension: stock M3
It's rubbing whenever i make a left turn, or over any kind of bump. Rubs way more on the passenger side, as you can see in the pics. I'm hoping i can just hit that part of the body in a bit with a flat hammer? If not then i guess i'll have to get some spacers and roll the fenders :( . Hopefully you guys will shed some more light on a solution. TIA

Hammer.
Don't forget to add some paint or undercoating to the naked areas after it's bent.
I would bet its ur suspension/camber/toe settings. ET40 is far out enough that it shouldn't rub.

Are you sure I wont be damaging anything on the otherside of the metal? this seems to be the ricer fix to me, but im not sure

So do you think a proper alignment will fix it?

Yup. Either it's out of alignment or else you need a big hammer (make sure it's a decent weight rubber mallet so you don't gouge anything).
I want more pics, especially ass-end shot's to see how 255's look on the 9.5" rim. :alright

The other side of the metal is covered by trunk liner.
You don't have to bend it much.

1) As long as you are careful not to f-up the metal you are totally fine. This wouldn't be the first time it's been done. You can always heat the area up with a heat gun to make the metal easier to work with.
2) If you have excessive negative camber it's possible. It's more likely to be the former solution I'm guessing.

Alright thanks guys. I've got an alignment scheduled for wednesday, so If that doesnt fix it, I'll get out the tools. I'm just glad I dont have to get spacers for this problem.

Sorry, I dont have any great shots of the rear, but i have a couple crappy ones. you can also check my sig link for different angle pics of the rear tires.

looks good. I have 255s on my 8.5 in rear and i love how wide they are. anyway, about your rubbing problem, you already got it figured out. go with the alignment and if that doesn't fix it i'd try spacers before hammering in the body but if it's been done before go ahead, it's your car haha. i had to roll my rear fenders a bit when i put on the 255s but now they don't rub at all. my suggestiong is spacers and then a bit of rolling if it starts rubbing the outside of the fender, once spacers are installed. good luck

thx for the insight...only prob is the tires are so wide, they will already rub the fenders if the car goes low enough, and i want to lower it. So if i add spacers, i'll have to roll the HELL out of the fenders, and maybe damage them, requiring a repaint. Thats what im thinking anyways. I may be wrong. Dam tires rub on both sides :(
I'd say drop it and then get an alignment, ur cars a little high!

yea i know, I can almost take this thing offroad. I will be lowering it, but not for a few months. Untill then, i need even tire wear on this staggered set.

Dude, I think something is wrong with your suspension. I just put the wheels from my Z4 onto my M3 (to see how 18 inch wheels look) and I have no rubbing at all. The Z4 wheels are 18x8 225/40-18 and 18x8.5 255/35-18. The 18 inch wheels do look GREAT.
I checked out your pics, but they were all taken at night. Could you kindly post some daytime shots of the side of the car to showcase your new wheels? I'm thinking of getting the same - THANKS!

That's what you get when you run 9.5" wheels on a car that doesn't need it :stickoutt
:devillook
PS: Actually it only makes the car handle worse as everyone knows.

dude, he has 9.5s, not 8.5s.
And when you have 9.5s and you get 255s you will usually have some rubbing. get a mallet, beat the car up alittle.
otherwise as others have said your alighnment is off also.

[QUOTE=dcforum]dude, he has 9.5s, not 8.5s.QUOTE]
OUCH. I did not notice that. Yeap, that would certainly make the same size tire sit on the wheel differently. As it is, the 255's on the 8.5 width comes pretty CLOSE to the Stromung exhaust that I have on the car. The exhaust ALREADY rubs on the stock 245's on 17 inch wheels when taking high speed right turns (I assume it's right hand turns or it could be from the suspension travel) even though my exhaust clamps are not broken. When I try to push the exhaust to the leftside of the car, it's hard to touch the tire.

I think et 35 would have been more appropriate for 9.5" rims. I just spent many hours yeaterday "reworking" my fenders so I can fit 17x9 et.35 rims on a slammed suspension. If I were you, I'd either sell the rims for 9" wide max. or try some 5mm spacers. At least those will move your tire away from the inside... then all you have to worry about is the OUTside, but that's what fender rollers are for! :D

Thanks for the input guys, but I solved this issue almost 2 months ago! Alignment helped, as i had too much toe in and neg. camber in the rear. I also banged the metal with a mallot, because the lowering might bring this problem back. But I am happy to report no issues, even with the tire tucked 1 inch under the fender.

I think et 35 would have been more appropriate for 9.5" rims.
Hmmm im now rubbing on the fender with a 40mm offset. so 35mm would make that even worse!

No, it would give you more clearance on the inside.

No, Im rubbing on the fender. that is the outside of the tire. a spacer would make this problem worse.
Thanks anyways.

the car is lowered now, is rubs on the rear fenders over bumps. And i cant even think about carrying passengers untill i roll the fenders. Rubs on hard cornering too.

thedude - first off, let me tell you that your car is beautiful. I had a quick question for you. It looks like youre running the 18x8.5 up front and the 18x9.5 in the rear. can you please tell me if the face of teh 9.5 rear wheel looks more concave than the front wheel? I would REALLY appreciate it!

I was wondering if there is a difference in quality or in any matter between Umnitza Rep compared to others?
Umnitza got them in one Size only 18 BY 8.5- Are you sure about the size?

That would be great m3j0n, I'm stuck between getting CSL's, the ROTA P45's (custom ordered) or the LM Reps from I think ModBargains. Its mainly between the CSL's and LM Reps though, lol. Still saving money while I decide.

I'm assuming you got Umnitza's because Modbargain's are advertising the rear 9.5 as 45ET? Which would mean I'd have one hell of a time fitting those without nailing my fender even with the roll I have :(
