Hello all,

I'm thinking about selling my 1994 325is and I'd like to know what you think it's worth. The car has 212,000 miles, and is in overall good condition. The intereior is very clean, and the seats have no tears and show little wear. The paint on the outside is good, with a few rust spots beginning to show. Here is a list of the mods:

Suspension:
Koni Yellow single adjustable shocks (rear adjustable from in trunk)
H&R Sport springs
Heavier anti-sway bars from 325 sport package
Front control arms replaced w/M3 arms
Front control arm powerflex bushings
Rear trailing arm bushings replaced w/m3 bushings and ground control spacers
Rear upper shock mounts replaced with ground control model

Motor:
ECIS cold air intake
Dinan Chip
Fan delete (but included)
M3 exhaust

Brakes:
Brembo Rotors
Axxis Ultimate Pads

Wheels:
M68 M double-spoke (off 330I) 17*7.5 in front, 17*8.5 in rear
Bridgestone Potenza RE 750 in all corners
Winter 15" 325 wheels with snow tires (Dunlop)

Interior:
Front seat leather swapped from passenger to driver and vice versa (to even out wear)
Stock seat heaters replaced with aftermarket carbon-fiber heaters (under leather)

Sound System:
Front speakers replaced with MB Quart Reference 2-way speakers (5.25" and .75") with custom crossover
Rear speakers replaced with MB Quart 6*9 speakers with custom crossover
Amplifier in trunk replaced with Alpine
Factory trunk CD changer

Exterior:
PIAA Extreme-white high and low beams

It's a blast to drive and still pulls strong.
I live in the Boston area. How much do you think I should ask for it?
Blue Book is $4500-$5000.

Thanks in advance.

-David

This really depends on finding a buyer who is happy seeing those mods, and is therefore likely already an E36 owner.

Most buyers including myself steer away from cars that have chips. It tends to mean the driver chose to improve the car to drive more agressively. The same can be said about the suspension mods if not worded carefully.

Fan delete is going to look like the stupidest thing imaginable to someone unfamiliar with it. Picture someone trying to sell you a Miata with the radiator missing who is trying to tell you it is fine and an improvement.

If it were me, I'd ebay the chip, the CAI, the fan delete (If you have all the stock parts to put back), possibly the same answer to the sound system.

Look in your auto trader paper to set the price- everyone here in Arizona is 2-3 grand over blue book for BMW and has been forever. Start high, and let time and the market determine the selling price.

If you say "Upgraded performance suspension" in the ad and explain it to the potential buyers as though you needed to replace the old parts and went for the dramatic handling improvement, they will think you spent money to better maintain it and not building it so you can beat on it.

The miles are really high, so I'd leave that out of the ad and wait for them to ask.

Yes, it's a manual. No interior shots, but imagine the best an 11-year-old interior could ever look and that would be about correct. All of the leather is happy and the carpets are very clean.
