I think some people hear are forgetting that 174 hp is not much more than 169hp. What is the torque number on the VR6, the actual measure of power? Think some of you guys are forgetting that a 323's m52 is actually faster than the 325's m50.

Lolz, I'll be sure to include CF engine covers in my mod list for my next Erace. The attributes of the CF covers will make a noticable advantage over the plastic "M-power" covers. Besides the huge weight savings and intimidation factor, the heat transfer properties will reduce under hood temperatures considerably. All this said, I'll shave off at least 2 seconds for my quarter miles. :evil2

ok sorry guys about the long reply but race day has gone by and yes it was a total defeat, whoever said i was going to lose needs to never talk again on this forum this wasnt even a race i won by 3 car lengths and i was messing wit him because i couldnt stop laughing i killed him. sorry about the long time to reply but the day we were suppose to do it, it rained like crazy i dint care but he did so we postponed it a day and then i just remembered about posting the results but yes i won and after we raced i drove his car. an it is nothing compared to mine, so whoever said i would lose smoke another one.

I'm a little confused by how his 323 will lose in a race. The VR6 has around 174hp (flywheel) in stock form. Doesn't the 323 have around 168hp/181tq? And his is slightly modded (chip, intake/exhaust, suspension, flywheel/clutch?) so I'd expect the 323 to win, unless its far slower then my car. My stock '93 325is takes VR6's without a problem.

Also, some one mentioned power to weight. The 323 should be around 3100lbs, maybe a little more, right? The Mk4 Jetta is going to be sitting at 3200lbs-3300lbs. So, the power/weight ratio is about the same, and the Bimmer has a nice RWD launch feature.

My money is on the Bimmer, with out a doubt. (From personal experience, a 97 2.0 Jetta can take a 04 VR6 24v Jetta GLi with a better launch ;) It’s a drivers race, even with a ~80hp difference ;))
Then your friend needs to learn how to drive.That wouldn't have changed much, the VR6 is the same power, weighs more, and has FWD so it has less chance of a perfect launch. The Jetta is doomed to loose. I know from experience from both sides of the table (FWD and RWD, same power from both (93 325is / 04 24v GLi))


Question!?! Will I beat a “tuned” 98 Integra in a drag?! How about on a cornering course? He’s got a hot air intake (No heat shield) and a fatty sound system and a 4-5” muffler (stock piping up to the muffler, of course). I actually don’t need to have this question answered, I already know the results, and once my car is back rolling on the road (DME took a s*** on me), I’ll be racing him for money (Cuz he’s a prick and deserves to lose some dignity and monetary value for talking shit about my “POS European car” ;)) I’ll post a video of the races once they happen, in about a week (Need the new DME and new solid guibo installed)

AWD launch......hmmmm and as to the 12v I have a buddy who I've seen consistenly pull 14.3 in his 1/4 with stock everything on his MKIV GTI, which is pretty much identical.can you say the same. I was very amazed. he's a very talented driver. at anyrate I have to push my m3 pretty hard to stay away from 24v VR's. you just can't underestimate them....especially if they can drive....but thats what really counts anyway..........just my random thoughts

You didn't hold an S4 to second, or at least not while in second. Thats compltely laughable. Maybe its my M50 but my car doens't even get near a mid 13's car until top of 3rd gear. (as far as acceleration rates)

And 1/4 on my car ends right with the top of third (96.28 was my best trap).
