im looking for 2 rear tires for my 17's on my 325.since i have done a decent amount of work to the engine it breaks the tires loose just buy flooring the gas with out dumping the clutch or anything.this is a major killer for off the line launches.does anyone have recomendation for a tire that is a street tire that can be driven in rain if needed but will give some decent grip at a decent price.i have kuhmo 711's on there now.the tread is very good but there jsut not giving to much traction.TIA

Sounds like you don't necessarily need tires...you just need to learn how to launch a car properly. Tips here:

Did not know that toyo owned nitto. My opinion is only on first hand experience. Last pair of Toyo's i had wore out in 5K miles.

i'm going with that's a failure of your alignment settings.

or driving style? The poster here wanted "super grip tires"... he isnt going to get that with hard compound, long life tires. You cant have the best of both worlds... going by that logic, R-compound Hoosiers would suck too since they wear out after 8 sessions. :help
Anyways.. with that said... the Toyo T1Rs are a good bang for the buck tire... you can also look at the GY GSD3 and Michelins.

negitive. if your driving down the road and floor your gas pedal at 3,700 rpm and the car revs out to the rev limiter spinning the wheels like mad. thats called to much power not enuff traction.
i have been drag raceing muscle cars forever but with the bmw you cant go get a set of micky thompson slicks and call it a day.thats why i asked.thank you for the replys.basdically what im looking for is a tire that can be driven autoX and will put the power down and get me out of the whole.

You could always feather the throttle? If you are having problems like that, it sounds like you are running All-seasons or something.

In general, a good auto-x tire won't be good for launching. A good auto-x tire, while a soft compound, will have stiff sidewalls. If you want optimum launches, you need a set of drag radials. If you want good auto-x performance, you need a set of r-comps. If you want a good street tire, the options are all over the place and you've gotta decided on the tradeoff between softness (grip) and life.

Kumho MX or
Falken Azenis
This is well known, ask around at the autocross.
Don't expect them to last long.

It just so happens though, that the nitto drag radial works really really well at both.
