Of course they will give you a phone. But they will give you the base line phone. Meaning, I would be getting the Nokia 3360. I don't want that phone. here is a pic of it http://ebay1.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_dd8db86fb37276d2e50f1030c2cb2326/i-1.JPG

I would MUCH rather have the A388. Also, they offer the Motorola V60 for $200 so why not spend the extra $50 and get a pda too?

Yeah I want a phone that not many other people have out there.

It's so annoying to have your phone ring and 8 other people pull their phones out thinking its their phone ringing and vice versa.

does it work with U S Cellular phone systems ?

djpfine
07-29-2002, 05:03 PM
It's a triband phone, meaning it should work with any GSM carrier in the world. The US uses the GSM 1900mhz frequency, and the A338 supports 900/1800/1900 (900 and 1800 are commonly used in Asia/Europe).

Correct me if i'm wrong, but hope that helps.

yes, you are correct

An AT&T rep told me that they will begin to "softlock" their phones soon. Even if you have a GSM phone, unless it is from them, it won't work.

I would definitely be interested for $200. I'm pretty damn sick of my Nokia 8260.

Fred, lets say bout 2-3 weeks? is that enough time for everyone to see if that is what they want to do?

We can get other phones too i think... i can ask if you wish. I think we can get the ericsson T68 which has a color display if you are interested.

how much would it cost to get the SonyEricsson T68i through this GP?

wewu
08-04-2002, 05:05 PM
Yeah how much is the t68i if we go thru the gb?? Also ne one know when the p800 comes out??

outkastaliens
08-04-2002, 06:28 PM
The guy is being an ass about the T68i. He said that they would be $250. If you would like one of those for that price, we can do it.

djpfine
08-04-2002, 08:05 PM
wow...a T68i for $250 is a ridiculouslyl cheap price! Even the T68m (older version of the T68) retails for about $280 from the chepeast dealers, with the T68i being in the $300+ range.

Is that T68i a real phone from SonyEricsson that's unlocked? If so, I'd say everyone should jump on the boat and get one!

outkastaliens
08-04-2002, 08:46 PM
Yeah, it is the sonyericsson and it is unlocked. I posted a pic of it earlier. Like i said, if you want, i can get them for $250 if you are interested.

wewu
08-04-2002, 11:06 PM
nah its ok then $250 is kinda expensive. I can get it for $175 if I open an acct with voicestream and its unlocked also. I just wanted to keep my old acct. So ne one know when the ericsson p800 is gonna come out in the U.S.?

djpfine
08-05-2002, 12:17 AM
man first I buy the Stromung, now I might buy a cell phone...this board is gonna make me poor! :bawl

yea you can get em for $175 or less easily in NY, IF you get the phone with activation. to get the phone WITHOUT activation, and unlocked, for about $250 is a pretty good deal.

however, the pic you posted is of the old T68m, not the T68i. So I'm sort of confused...is the $250 price tag for the SonyEricsson T68i (phone mentioned), or the older Ericsson T68m (phone in picture)

TIA

I just went down to my aat rep and i can get a plan with the ericsson for 215 for the phone then whatever plan i want

outkastaliens
08-06-2002, 04:16 PM
yeah, with a plan man! I already have a plan and it seems like a really good deal, dont' you think?

djpfine
08-06-2002, 09:25 PM
phones are always cheaper when you sign up with activation. cellular providers subsidize their phones and make them cheap. why? so that people buy them and sign a contract locking them to the service for 1 or 2 years. this is especially true for GSM phones, where you have the ability to use the phone with any GSM provider by just changing the SIM card (chip inside the phone).

so yes, if you go out and look for a plan, you will get the new T68i for around $200 or less. however, if you want to buy the phone unlocked, and without any sort of activation or contract, then you're going to be paying much more because there are no subsidies given on such phones. plus the phones are unlocked, which means you can use them with whatever GSM provider you can find. The AT&T Ericsson you see for sale is locked to AT&T only - meaning that you must get it unlocked before you can even use it with a GSM provider other than AT&T

outkastaliens - sorry to keep asking, but did you ever find out if the phone is the T68m or T68i? if it's too much of a hassle, don't worry about it.

TIA
