Hmmm, there's not a whole lot that you can get for a MINI that's under $50, and nothing I can think of performance wise. Some suggestions though may be a glove box organizer (http://outmotoring.com/glove_box_organizer.html) ($30), a Euro Parcel shelf (http://outmotoring.com/euro_parcel_tray.html) ($80),a stud conversion kit (http://outmotoring.com/mini_cooper_stud_conversion_kit.html) ($50), stubby antenna ($30). Look around some places like outmotoring or mini mania, some of the places that carry some convenience item. I have found that my Euro Parcel shelf is very handy :)

Get him a die-cast model that looks similar to his car!

Always a good idea.

If he doesn't have a MINI sunshade yet, those were around $40, as I recall, when I got mine, and quite sturdy.

This is something I picked up for $15 and use every time I drive my MINI. It is an oblong vinyl fresnel lens that allows you to see overhead traffic lights without dislocating your neck. The picture on the website makes it look rather large, but its only about 6 1/2" wide and about 1 1/2" tall at its widest point. It adheres to the windscreen via moisture.

Now, you'll have a little money left over to get him that diecast model as well!
