First timer?
Springs/struts/shocks...should be in one combo if you're going to do it right :)
Need: spring compressor, breaker bar, some research (search/read) and elbow grease
~6 hours first timer alone
and..search and read, lots of information that can cut down your completion time :stickoutt

I am already finding out that I should go with struts and springs. the load for the stock ones with lowered springs seems too much. tire rack has a good price for the whole setup. thanx.

The rear springs are pretty easy, the front struts a bit more involved. Just be careful of releasing the springs under load (hence the spring compressor) - when a spring flies out and wedges itself in your forehead it can be really hard to get it out without making a big mess.

damn, do you actually have to use a spring compressor on E36's? On all of my previous cars I've used the weight of the car to compress them.....
