View Full Version : Broken seat! :(
I broke my seat somehow.. the right side of my drivers seatback moves about 6 inches to and fro. The left side is fine. I think the right side reclining locker broke, can you fix this problem?

i have the same problem and there was a DIY where you can recline it but the only way to fix it is a new motor i believe. :(
Mine are manual, hopefully thats easier?

yea the same thing happened to mine i was looking to see if anyone has a way of fixing this...the drivers is manual and it feels like the one side is farther down than the other it moves when i adjust the seat just seems like its off a tooth or something.
I never fixed it, bought new seats from summitt racing, they were much better anyways :)

I have the same freakin problem and cannot find a thread anywhere here that addresses this issue...this is the closest I have seen. I guess you never took the seats apart to find out, huh CJ? I'm looking to not buy seats until I determine it's impossible for me to support it back upright. This link I found is the closest thing to someone describing what I am experiencing...

Until you take your seat out and take it apart you will not be able to see what is broken. I have mine apart to replace the gear as well as fix the seat back Bowden cable so I am not speaking from arm chair advice.
Your seat back is held in place by some pretty robust clogs (not gears but like fingers that fit into a set of notches. When you pull the handle to move the back rest the finger release to a new notch.
The other way the seat moves is with the seat motor for electric moving the plastic gear that always breaks. For manual I can only assume it doesn't have this at all and the fingers and notches control the seat back angle.
From what I remember since I am not home at the moment there is a huge spring too that moves the seat forward as soon as you pull the lever. Maybe the lever is engaging on one side but not the other....
Sorry not much experience with manual seats...
This site gives you an idea of how to take part of the seat apart.

This one you can see the fingers which are what control the seat angle

fun2drive...you always come through in an informational pinch!!! Thanks so much. You definitely help my confidence level for attacking DIY stuff...
I've started taking the seats apart now and haven't spotted anything so far...but I am thinking once I remove the seats I may notice something on the frame...I'll take some pics in case I can't determine the cause on my own...
