A friend of mine recently bought a black on black 94 325is manual off ebay, but bought another 328 a little later and has to get rid of the 325. The car had a salvage title but it is all cleared up. He is asking 4k because he just wants to get rid of it.

I drive a 98 ford explorer with 90k miles and somehow possibly talked my dad into selling the ford and getting me the bmw. The only concerns that fill my head are $$$.

What are typical problems these cars tend to get and how much are we talking. I have read much about owners and their electrical problems, or the AC not working, and stuff acting strange. This car has 80k miles and I believe was driven in Brooklyn.

I guess I am worried about major things going wrong costing multiple hundreds of dollars. My best friend is a mechanic and works at tires plus so I dont have to worry about labor on problems that can be fixed at a Tires Plus.

Thanks for the input and excuse my extreme newbieeness.

There's a maintenance checklist somewhere around here.

Here it is: http://www.fortune3.com/~comp73891/e3675k.html

168,000 miles and still luv'n it. Like anything else, it has its ups and downs, take care of basic things and it should go a long way..

Sometimes things that arent suppost to break at a certain mile point do. My bimmer always keeps me guessing. lol. That asshole. But with 80K miles thats perfect for the http://www.edgemotorworks.com/ 75K miles check list. Go to their site and on the little side menu on the bottom these is a link called edge checklist. Under that they have the e36 75K miles check list for stuff you should look out for, replace, etc. As long as the car is maintained you will be fine. I got 145K on mine, I had to spend money replacing a lot of things before if my previous owner didnt do that too much.. But after that its running strong. :redspot
