Im trying to install heated seats into my e36. I have a coulpe of seats with heating, the buttons and the cable harnesses. I salvaged this from a wreck but im starting to think there is more I need, do you have a drawing/scheme of how everything is connected? I have connected all the red/yellow cables to +, the brown to - and the grey are for instrument lights, I have not bothered with them. The switchts works fine, I can turn the heating on and off, but there is no heat in the seats, what am i missing?

Any answer is greatly aprecited!

A wiring scheme would really be great!

Are you sure the heating elements in the seats work? All you should need is a power source and a ground. Unless heated seats are something different.

I tried with 12v, not a single seat heater works! There are 2 in every seat, I have both front seats (4 heaters) :\, what is wrong??? :S I dont understand anything :\ Could 4 heaters really be broken ? Did the salavage yard screw me over? or... ? :S

It's really possible. Salvage yards I've been to have facilities where you can test electric seats, heated seats, etc. to make sure all functions work before buying. If there's something they can't test, they sell it for next to nothing on the condition that it may not work properly.

I'd call the salvage yard and see what they can do. All sales are not final in a lot of salvage yards.

This is not a very professional salvage yard, I live in Norway, we are a little behind when it comes to quality ;) But a sale is not final there, and I have a lot of rights, so I will look into it.

I was thinking that maybe the seats should be wired inn a seriell connection to drop the amp going trough them. And that I have blown the heaters be applying 12v directly ?

Does anybody know how the heating level is regulated ? Shunt ? Those switches could not dispose of much heat I think,,,
