I'm trying to replace the single oxygen sensor on my 95 325i.

The sensor doesn't want to seem to budge, I've but a lot of force on it with my socket wrench but nothing happens.

So to the people who have replaced theirs... how'd you get it off?

Takes some muscle, the right sized crow foot wrench and spray lube. Hope that it isn't rusted too bad and the previous one was installed with anti-seize as required.

Yeah it's not coming off. I've used both arms with full strength.
I guess i'll have to take it to a mechanic.

Try throwing some heat on it with a propane torch. Have had to use this trick before. Use anti-seize compound on the threads of the new one.

1) soak it with pb blaster overnight.

2) put a long pipe over the end of the socket wrench to increase your leverage.

Exactly what I was gonna suggest. And if you don't have a big pipe sitting around (which every home mechanic should :stickoutt), then use a big open end wrench on the end of the ratchet to get more leverage.

Just recently the arm that pumps up my floor jack came off (loose bolt) and I happened to need some leverage so I used it. Having a 4 foot breaker bar REALLY got that damn bolt off (not o2 sensor, I was working on something else).

The problem with using a long ended pipe is that there is no room! I can barely fit my socket wrench up there as it is...

Drop the exhaust at the downpipes and the brace across the tranny. Then you'll have plenty of access to it. Makes it a ton easier.
