the install kit includes....

Why drive all over town looking for the parts you'll need to install new shocks and springs on your E36 3-series? This kit includes everything you need! The kit includes the following parts: E46 M3 rear shock mounts, M-Roadster rear shock mount reinforcement plates, rear shock mount gaskets, 3.2L M3 front shock tower reinforcement plates, front strut bearing gaskets, 10 lock nuts, zip ties to reinforce the bumpstops and a tube of Lock-tite Red.
In Stock - ships within 48 hours

do i really need it? or will the bmp rsm's do me well

The manual suggests replacing the gaskets and lock nuts and others suggest using the reinforcement plates. So, it depends on how deep you want to go. At a minimum I would get new gaskets and nuts, which would be inexpensive. I wouldn't worry about the reinforcements right now unless you drive really hard.

alright so i can save a bit then where would i get these gaskets and nuts from?

its better to install the RSMs when u do the suspension, also the RSMs on E36 are known to fail so upgrading is a good idea. hold off on the suspension install till u can get some $$ for the RSM.

i know that man i have the money for the 99$ kit but i dnt want to buy it if i dont actually "need it" so my point of this thread is to ask this "can i get away with a successful installation of my suspension with jut the suspesnion kit and the BMP design RSM's?" or do i need the kit to do the install

For the gaskets try your local dealer. They could set you up with the nuts too. You could probably find the nuts in a well stocked hardware store.
If you arn't close to a dealer try bimmerzone or bimmerworld on the web. I saw those gaskets on one of those sites.

Bimmerzone has the gaskets for 42 cents each. The bolts shouldn't cost more then $2.

But it has some reinforcement plates that are a good thing to have. I just installed this on mine when I replaced my entire suspension front/rear. Do you absolutely need it? No.

i used the understeer kit when i did my suspension. I recommend it, however if money is tight, at the very least do the RSM's.

I used the 30$ RSMs from Bimmerworld. Better than spending 90$ like most of the other ones out there. They are lifetime warranty. They recommend the high$$ for upgraded suspensions but they seem fine on my koni/vogtland setup. What part number is on your rear springs?? They had to send me three sets before getting it right (kept sending the convertible springs). As for the gaskets, I reused the plastic ones that were in there with no problem. I also reused the locking nuts and have checked the torque on them several times since and they are fine (probably worth the 2$ though for assurance ...lol)

I am doing the front springs struts in about 2 hours.

You can reuse the plastic gaskets, I'll even reuse paper gaskets if they're in good shape. Just put a very thin smear of grease on them. Locknuts can also be reused with the application of some Loctite blue. I don't use red for anything other than engine internals that I won't want to disassemble.

To answer your question, no, you don't need it. Hell you don't even need to replace the RSMs, however they should be replaced & you should get the RSM kit that comes with the gaskets.

As far as the other stuff, you do not need it. I never replace the RSM nuts, the old ones work just fine. Just be sure your front strut bearings/mounts are good because to have to go back & replace those would be an expensive hassle. The RSM's can be changed out in minutes, as the shock spring combo in the rear is seperate.

You're wlecome.

Ride quality is pretty good.... I got the fronts in yesterday. I like the drop, almost to the tires in the front and a little tuck in the back.

remember i have a 96 328i sedan

328 uses the same springs as all other e36 non-m3. Verts have thicker and taller springs in the rear though to accomodate the weight.

I ordered the same part number from the same place as you so make sure you did not get the convertible rear springs. Give me the part number on the actual springs and I will let you know, to prevent any hassle (I was sent and installed the wrong ones twice). Pure M Sport said I had the right ones so I called Vogtland and told them my car was sitting way high and gave him the part numbers. He said I had the vert springs. Then Vogtland sent me the same ones again but a different color lol. I went out and took measurements on all four corners (and pictures). Let Vogtland know the results and he overnighted the right ones.

The first box they sent me was 961057 then they sent me 961657, both had the same exact springs in them but diff colors. Just give me the numbers on your front and rear springs, I will check my e mail when I get home and tell you if you have the right ones.
