you too can have a cheap but very good complete exhaust system!
here is everything i got and the prices:
obdII m3/328 tubular shorty headers: $100 shipped (from the for sale section)
getting the smog pump holes on the headers welded up and the surface decked/trued: $50 (local shop)
home porting with a dremel: FREE :)
header and collector gaskets: $30 shipped (pelicanparts.com)
plugged up the o2 sensor bungs on the headers: $4 (lowes)
converted to a complete single 2 1/2" exhaust right where the 2 down pipes "y" together, no cats, one resonator with larger 3" intake/exit (so it doesn't restrict flow), and one flowmaster delta force 40 series muffler, and a single inlet dual exit downward cut chrome tip: $200 (local muffler shop)
there you have it i have a COMPLETE exhaust system for a grand total of $384.
oooh i almost forgot i painted the whole thing with duplicolor 1200deg. aluminum color paint: $10
so i did all this for under $400!!!!
i just put the headers on today and from start to finish it took 4 hours! it wasn't to bad more time consuming than anything. i did it all on a frame lift and all underneath, i didn't need to get to any header bolts from the engine compartment. i noticed a better top end and it pulls the whole way up a little better! :alright
the sound of the whole thing is......well in two words "BAD ASS!" i have to get some video/sound action soon! :redspot
this is gonna help out a ton when i get my m3 cams installed next week!!
there is no need to spend $1000 just for a cat back system when you can get everything done for under $500!!
hope this helps anyone deciding on getting a system in the near future!!
