View Full Version : 318i E36 Speaker installation
Hi guys,
Time has come for me to take off company speakers and install aftermarket speakers for my 97 318i. I have decided on Pioneer TS-G1040R 4" 2-way Speakers for rear. But am still tossing between 2 way or 3 way for kick panel. I will leave the company tweeter in door as it is, so not sure. Any suggestions will be welcome.
Also, are there any step by step instructions available for speaker removal and installation?
Many thanks, :redspot

Welcome to Bimmerforums, next time post in the stereo forum, a lot of people know alot back there.
You are way better off installing 5 1/4 components up front, disconnect the factory mid/tweeter, and installing the tweeter on your sailpanel (the part that holds the mirror on the inside). Forget the 4" in the rear, it will just sound like rubbish anyway. There are 6x9 adapters for the rear so you can get a nicer sound, or just leave them out. I have 5 1/2 components (mids in the kick panel, tweets on the sail) up front (JBL GTO) and a JL 10w7 subwoofer in the trunk, no rear speakers, basically a 5 speaker system, but with over 800 watts RMS. (1600 watts max). the rear acts like bass ports for the sub. and its clear and loud. its about quality (power of amps) over quantity (# of speakers)
