Headlamp knob area light?

Is the headlamp knob area on the driver's side supposed to be lit up? Because if so that part of my dashboard is burnt out.

I mean this little area, because for some reason it isn't lit up at all... seemed kind of weird.

mine doesn't light up either. Hasn't since i got it

It actually uses a tiny little bullet type globe. The only thing is, the light stays on all the time once the ignition is on.

No wonder it's dead on most e36's. Doesn't look worth the effort to take it out.

I hate finding out i have something wrong that i never knew existed.... grr... then i find out that what I must now replace (obsessive about these things) is a p.i.a. ohhh well, time with my car is time well spent

Haha I know what you mean I'm obsessed with small issues too... can't wait till I can afford a NEW BMW hah. Let me know what type of a bulb it is if you ever find out. I was just thinking about it today while I was driving at night.. I was like why isn't this lit up like everything else?
