my valve cover gasket is leaking a bit and its time to be replaced
but last time i had it apart there was a little oil seeping onto the rubber boots that are on the end of the coils in the spark plug wells, and im sure theyll need to be replaced, are these included with the valve cover gasket kit?

anyone got any part numbers?

also i will be changing plugs while its apart, righ now it has +4's (they were in there when i got the car) what should i replace them with,
the car has developed a slight studder only like a one or 2 misses on take off from low RPM

im hopeing its just a plug the +4's have been in for about 30K miles
what should i get and what gap?
any other info is appreaciated

anything else to replace while the valve cover is off?

I assume the valve cover gasket is just that, the gasket, I've gotta do mine verrrrrrrry. Never heard of it refered to as a kit before, if its more than $40 it should have a bit more to it. The dealer can pull up the appropriate part in the computer so dont worry about that for the plug boots. As for plugs, nkg is your best bet, if you wanna get super fancy you can get iridium but it's probably not necessary. The studdering is probably a combo of old plugs mixed with the oil sitting against that boot and actually getting up inside there, will go away once you replace the plugs and deteriorated connectors. Good luck.

NGK BKR6EQUP.

The valve cover gasket should come with the spark plug gaskets, and also you need new washers for the bolts (not sure if that's what they're called). I think you can just wipe the oil off the boot.

there is a break in 9/92 for valve cover gasket sets..they change ...so be careful...but the kit includes the outer gasket and the sparg plug hole seal rings...that is all...part numbers: pre 9/92= 11 12 9 070 530 after 9/92=11 12 9 070 531... 35-40 bucks from the dealer depending on which kit and where you get it from...

If you consider changing the plugs "tearing into it" then uhh... well... I dunno but yea man, that's nothin'.

You gotta Bentley manual?

"If you consider changing the plugs "tearing into it" then uhh... well... I dunno but yea man, that's nothin'." :lol It is easy to change th gasket. Make sure you clean off old one completely and it will have dried up and be brittle so make sure all peices come out and not afall in to valves. Also, when taking plugs out make sure you remove all oil that has accumulated into hole before you take plug out or it will run into piston. I used a rag and sopped it up. You can also use a syringe and tubing too. Also, plugs nowadays are moslty gapped I believe at the factory and don't need to be gapped by end user.

i was just using the tearm "tearing into it" ive never had to do anything to the Bimmer before, i changed the sparkplugs 4 years ago when i got the car, and it had Bosh +4's in it, so i took them to the store and told them they had foul'd out and they replaced them for free, so i threw them in the car and havent touched it since with the exception of a new fuel filter and change the oil

i have it all apart, 3 of the sparkplug wells were completley full of oil, and the gaskets were all cracked, one of the sparkplug gasket o-rings actually had a chunk missing out of it :( so im sure the engine ate it at some point in time
but the engine is verry clean im impressed, it only has 125K but it looks like it has 10K the valvecover gasket was completley cracked in 3 pcs

now im off to put it back together

the car runs noticably harder expecially in the upper RPM's and dosent bog nearly as bad with the A/C on

i enede up replacing all the rubber boots that go between the coil and the plug, they were nasty and oil soaked bad,
thanks fot the advice and help, i appreaciate it
