Vin Location on M50 engine?

Does anyone know where to find the vin # on the engine, I want to carfax it and I believe it expires today.

there is a vin # on the back of the head near the firewall, but there is not actually a vin on the block.

Nothing stamped. There is a sticker on the head on the back.

I thought it had a serial number stamped on it... Well at least it's written in my title.

Do i need to be taking anything off too see it, because I've had the valve cover and intake manifold off and never saw it then.

Nope, it's on the back of the head. That's gonna be tough to see w/o taking the engine out

you could always use a mirrior and a flashlight to see the number. There is a serial number cast into the block.

Actually bjl that is only sorta true. There is a blcok casting number. That won't give you any other info that your proper vin decode won't
