I am doing the sunroof repair, I sucessfully took all the screws out but the last fackin' one. It's a torx t-25, and it's stripped to all hell. I just can't get it out. What are my options? I really don't want to drill it because I am afraid I will mess up the threads on the outside, plus I'll probably go right through it and drill into the body. Do those craftsman screw extractor things work? I need to get this fixed asap.

Thanks,
Dan

PS - can I grab another one of these torx guys locally? Would home depot or lowes have it?

if u can get a small enough extractor then use it they work well. will involve drilling a small hole into the screw though.

other way is using the metal cutting blade on a dremel / craft tool and cutting a slot for a flat head screwdriver (my method)
you can reuse the screw then :)

Find a drill bit that is larger than the threads of the screw but smaller than the head. Carefully drill the head down until pops off. Then use vice grips to twist it out.

You will probaly have to order another screw through a dealership.

OK, I went and found an extractor at sears, hopefully it will work. Apparently no one in a 20 mile radius has heard of a torx screw, hopefully the dealer STOCKS them - does anyone know if they carry the normal screws?

Hopefully I won't have to resort to a dremel, because it will be a BITCH to get in there, and will involve cutting part of the rood liner that you don't see. Anyway, hope to get it out soon. Seems like the write ups made the whole sunroof mechanism out to be a lot more complicated than it is.

Thanks for the ideas, guys...
