Hey everyone,
I purchased a 93 318is with a blown engine and wanted to check on the boards before going to a salvage yard. Anyone here have a leftover 1.8 from a swap? Im located in Philadelphia and would drive to come pick up.
thanks,
Matt

Are you still looking for an engine?
I have one 2,5L for sale only 580 miles comes from a Z4 2003. I think it could fit but i’m not a mecano you should take info from a specialist.

Does anyone know how hard this swap is? I'm thinking about getting a OBD1 M50 and putting it in my 318is.

pull the old motor, drop the new motor in. bmw made it so the cars are modular and the wiring is cake, just twist it on.
this is also assuming you got a complete motor w/ harness/dme/sensors/accessories/etc. it gets more complex if you have to hunt it all down and put it together yourself.

Hi there,
The thought has definately crossed my mind but I purchased the 318 just to have something to drive to work. I have two other newer cars, one of which receives the lions share of "mod" money. At this point I can't justify spending the money on converting the car.
one of these days though.....
