Hopped in the 93 e36 to quick go to autozone to grab an oil filter and a extra a quart of mobil 1 to keep her running like brand new and maybe even look at orbital buffers to help keep her looking brand-new, and she died on me. I turned the key and half-way through it she just died.

CEL came on and i immedeiatley proceeded to check for error codes, it gave me a 1444 telling me that it was "ok".

No grinding or anything when i try to start again. I can hear the starter whir into action and feel the car "rumble" like usual. Everything sounds and feels normal, except the engine doesn't roar to life.

I've had an ECU go out before. But even then, it ran on 5 cylinders like an older audi. So my question is, what might be wrong(ECU, ignition coil?). And how do i determine and weed out from the list of possibilities what the correct problem is?

Did you check spark at the plugs and make sure she was getting fuel?

how do i check to make sure its getting fuel?

If all 6 plugs failed at the same instant, wouldnt it proabably be something more sinister than
"just" spark plugs?

It is entirely possible that the spark plugs cooperatively developed a ploy to commit a cult-like suicide in a scheme to make your life a living hell.

Seriously though, sounds like a fuel issue - did you check you fuel pump/relay? That's where I would start if it's cranking but not coming to life.

I have the bently manual. I should be able to put my car together if all the pieces decided to cooperatively fall apart on me, right?

Will check on the fuel relay/pump

are you giving it any gas before you start the car?

I would not use anything that you could find in autozone as a filter, well maybe for coffee because i don't drink coffee. check out are vendors section for places that sell the recommend filters or just buy one from the stealer.

If you flood it again just hold the gas pedal to the floor and start it. This will shut off the fuel delivery. I do it all the time on my 626 and have done it on several cars I had in the past. My dad was a mechanic for 20 years so I picked up a few tricks along the way.
