I'm looking at new ultra high performance summer tires--I am low on cash, looking to spend no more than $450. I have Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s as of now. They are fine but I haven't experienced anything else so what is a tire that will grip well and aid speed off the line?

Thanks.

for $450 total, you won't do much better than the tires you have now.

other option is get two really sticky rear tires and dirt cheap front tires if you just want grip off the line.

From the research I've been doing the Ventus RS2 and Fuzion ZRi are good bargains (95 a piece for a 235/40/17) or you can go with the MX but that won't stay in your budget.

He won't be able to get them for less than 400-450 though. I checked and the best price I could get for a PAIR of 245/40/17's installed with tax etc etc was still 300

Does anyone know how the BF goodrich G-force sport perform? They are under 100 a tire at tirerack. All the reviews on the tirerack website seem positive.

I have the same question. I am currently looking at the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport and the new Kumho ECSTA SPT both under $100 a tire.

I really don't know what tire will help you off the line that is within your budget. I could light up the 712s at will with my 540, so I threw those rims on the Touring. :biglaughb I have RE750s now and I can still light them up. :( Maybe you can try the Fuzions or the MX.

If you live in Kansas City, go by and visit Chad at KC Trends. Chad has a variety of tires and he will give you a good deal. You can spend as much, or as little as want.

Is there a big difference between the Kumho MX and SPT?

I hate to be the one to say it, but.... you are driving a premium car. You should buy premium rubber. The tire is what will keep you alive so go cut some grass or something to increase your budget and be safe.

You think I need to spend closer to $1000?

I'd like to know what the difference is myself. Any input...?

Honestly, you only need to spend what you think your life is worth. If you are an aggressive driver, you should have the tires that suit your driving style. A lot of people like the MX's, I believe you can get a set mounted for approx. $600. So yes, closer to $1,000.

Or... you could slow down a bit and put some all-season's on your ride until your financial situation improves.

Either way you still are driving one heck of a car.
