Hey,

Got some BBS Rx's the other day with rubber still heaps of tread on them. Went from stock 15 to these 17's.

Now i went to get em balanced and aligned.. yet its still feeling like something aint balanced right.

Suggestions were a flatspot - tho these tyres are pretty new and were on a bmw before (abs).

Im doubtful it is my car as my old ones didnt feel like this - vibrating.

Today we swapped front and rear - there was an improvement with lower vibration at low speeds, and it returning higher up (60mph and up).

So the other suggestion brought up today is that the machine aligns em, but they got some kind of bend in the rim from minor curbage or something?

What do you guys think? Itll cost me more to get em sent to the people than can test the rim and fix it if need be... I might see what other suggestions they got tomoro, and pay the place i got em from a visit - see if they can refund me some of the purchase price as i prob wouldnt have gotten em if i knew!

Thanks,

Dnz

i hadthe same problem. i went from stock 15 to double spoked 17" motorsport and i started feeling some kind of vibration and it came up to be the lower arm bushing. In my opinion on bigger size rims and a wider tires those problems tend to show.

Keep us updated.....

oh real?

But how can something be good one second and bad the next?

Overnight sypmtoms can appear?

I was actually thinking of taking em back coz if it...

Edit: Actually according to mech notes my car had some play in front ball joint at last service.. Could this be it? What would compell it to start vibrating?

its not that it happened over night or something, maybe because of the small rims and the narrow tires the symptoms of the loose ball joints weren`t that bad. but now when you went for 17" and def. wider tires the pressure on them increased.
I guess that make sense, what size tire you have ?

bigger wheels & tires put more stress on the suspension & brakes that's probably why it's more noticable

I have the same problem as soon as I put my 18" on I noticed it

but I know its the LCAB I'm just saving up so I can do the whole suspension at the same time

our cars are getting old & suspension parts do wear out

I actually went from 225/50 15's to 215/45 17's on my bbs'.

So would it be possible for this to happen?

yes

the 225/50 15 is 23.86" o.d. & the 215/45 17 is 24.62" o.d.
