Does anyone have any recommendations for a muffler for a '90 535? I need a new one, as mine is starting to rust out. I got a price at a local parts store for about $500  Is there anything out there that's cheaper, better, etc? Would I be better off just spending a little more and getting a Dinan Exhaust? Or a used? Or what?!?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Just find a quality muffler shop and put a universal muffler on it - just get some. Brand is your choice, but a lot of people like magnaflow.

I agree with Gunslinger.
A few months ago my exhaust was rusting out from the resonator back and developed some pretty good-sized holes. Went to an emissions test rigging type place on the west side of Chicago and had them remove practically my entire exhaust (anything that was rusting) and weld in a single straight pipe all the way back to some tin can peashooter mufler.
Total cost was $100 with labor... they had my car back to me in 20 minutes as I chilled there and watched them fab up an exhaust for a WS6.

Wow, I've been calling around here and everybody wants about $500 plus for a muffler and pipe. Maybe that's the way to go. Have you noticed any power or noise changes with the new set up? I don't really want something that looks and sounds like crap, but I don't want to spend a fortune, either. I guess I can't have my cake and eat it, too. :(

There's a little more get up and go off idle without any holes in the exhaust, and the system is MUCH quieter up to 3.5k where before it sounded like a dedicated racecar and the cabin droned at any speed. After 3.5k though the M30 wakes up and the car sounds the same as before (at least at WOT, then again I'm never really above 3.5k unless I'm at WOT so I guess that point is moot :confused ).

I don't want this to come out as racist or offensive but I can understand you're having a hard time sourcing something cheap in Iowa. In a bigger city like Chicago there are tons of Mexicans that do this emissions-type work for cheap, lots of Mexicans around here drive older cars that won't always pass emissions and with that comes the supply of guys that set up shop in ethnic neighborhoods and do efficient work.
My suggestion to you is to find a place like the one I described if at all possible, just make sure they do decent work.

Check. So southern Omaha it is. I'm heading there this weekend anyway for family holiday festivities :rolleyes
Thanks for the suggestions.
