For Sale - 1989 BMW 325is

Prepared for SCCA DSP autocross and track use - a fun, fast, competitive, beautiful, reliable, very well maintained car. The nicest E30 track/autocross car out there -- 1989 is the best year. This car was featured in the August 2002 Grassroots Motorsports Magazine "3 Some" E30 comparison article. Tim Suddard turned a faster time in this 325is than in his own E30 M3 GRM project car on the autocross test course! Numerous time trial and autocross class wins, top PAX and FTD in local highly competitive club (THSCC) against SCCA national champions.

Ground control coilovers (450F/600R), Koni adjustable shocks, Ground Control front camber/caster plates, delrin front bushings, adjustable rear trailing arm bushings, Racing Dynamics front swaybar, Ground Control rear shock mounts, Sparco front strut brace.

Thats one, clean e30! Very tastefully modded too.

You should list the car on roadfly classified if you haven't done so already. Good luck with the sale.

Very nice, but why was 89 the best year? I have a 90 325is. what's the difference?

Very nice, but why was 89 the best year? I have a 90 325is. what's the difference?

"The 88 and 89 came with the ellipsoidal headlights, the rest did not.
The 90 and 91 came with an airbag steering wheel as standard."

Opinions may vary, but most people prefer the ellipsoids, and I personally did not want an airbag steering wheel or the associated wiring, electronics, and sensors.

Well, it's no Cadillac, but it's actually more comfortable than you might expect on the street. :) AC works fine, as do all the other amenities (OBC, etc). I've put at least 20k street miles on it with various versions of suspension setup. Never used it as a daily driver but I drove it to work every few weeks just to have some fun.

Actually the biggest killer for street ride that I see all the time are cars that are aggresively lowered without any attention paid to adequate suspension travel. This car doesn't have that problem -- GC camber plates fixes that.

I would definitely recommend going back to the stock seats for street use. The Corbeaus kill the ride comfort far more than the suspension does. Also, it's nice and loud under acceleration but not bad at all while cruising.

Would the sound level be due to the suspension and mounts or the exhuast and conefilter?

Im VERY seriously thinking about this :paranoid:

EDIT: is there any way to buy the car with the original sport seats?

Hey guys,

I can vouch for how good this car really is. I was actually with whitney when he originally bought the car; I drove with him there to pick it up, and have watched him develop it over the years. You can't understand the attention to detail and research that went into everything. He's quite meticulous. I can also verify that the car has not been crashed and looks wonderful in person.

I've driven it on a number of occasions - autocross, street, and track. The car goes, stops, and turns superbly. If I recall correctly, at the last autocross I drove it in, Whitney and I finished 1-2 in DSP. Now granted, whitney is a gifted driver, but the car is extremely capable and regularly among the fastest in our (large, very active, and very talent-rich) sports car club. Whoever gets this will have a "no excuses" car.

On track it's every bit as capable as my full-race Honda Challenge H3 / SCCA ITS race car - he and I regularly ran lap times within about a second of one another. Only I'm on Hoosiers, have an 8 point cage, and weigh about 350lb less. That should tell the story right there.

I can only imagine what the spares package must be like, because he's got this impossibly large garage full of BMW parts and miscellaneous stuff.

Whoever buys this car will be getting a lot for their $8000. Worth every dime in my opinion. Were I without a race car myself, I would actually consider it for myself.

Thanks for all the comments about the car everyone. I love the car and I will miss it dearly. I'm just ready to move on to something different.

I've been really blown away by the interest in the car. Maybe I was asking too little! I'm happy to give Pino a good deal, since he's planning on continuing to use the car as it was meant to be used! I _really_ wanted it to go to someone who will continue to autocross and track it -- that's worth more to me than getting top dollar, for some unexplainable, emotional, illogical reason!

So Pino you have to promise to keep treating her like I did :) You'll have a blast at your first DE at Summit this summer!
