I am thinking of taking a week vacation up in Canada somewhere. I am looking for a cabin or whatever on a lake. I have 2 kids (6,9) and would like to find a place with activities to keep them busy. I don't want to end up in some wilderness with nothing to do. I would also like to keep the drive under 8 hours or so...

Some examples of activities that we would like to have available:

*fishing
*golf
*hiking
*biking
*waterskiing

So if anyone has any advice or experiences along these lines please let me know.

I have googled this but come up with a billion different hits. I would like to have some personal recommendation so we don't end up in some shi*hole.

Thanks.

What about Grand Bend...... aslong as it is not a long weekend it is a great place to visit. There is plenty of small towns around to and it would be about 3 hours from the boarder.

8 hours gets you to Ottawa ish area.

There are alot and i mean alot of small towns out that way with plenty of activities. I would personally suggest Cobden, eganville or Pembroke. All nice little towns and a short drive to Ottawa where all the touristy things are.
